One of the hardest things to do politically in the US is avoid demonizing your opposition, because it is so easy to do.

Open carry is a demonstration. It is a political act, not done from a fear of attack, but as a flexing of rights to keep them in play.

To answer the first question, yes, I, as a gun nut, absolutely want these marginalized groups to buy guns and defend themselves.
