What’s going on? Pre-2021, I never heard about ships running aground or colliding in the Suez Canal. Now it seems to be a regular affair. What’s going on? Was this always happening but not making it into the news media? Or is it just a spate of bad luck? Less qualified captains? Antiquated ships?

If I had billionaire money, I’d definitely buy a Ferrari like the one in the lead photo. That’s some Speed Racer Mach 5 stuff that I grew up on (yeah, Speed’s car was top-less). And I would drive it, without regard to it’s effect on the value of the car.

Somebody is a Senna fan!

Okay, I get that, too, BUT do you think the purchaser of this hulk is going to also be the one doing/participating in the 99.9% needed restoration? Or tracking down parts given their economic status? I think not.

Nope. Maybe the run-of-the-mill ones but that was a limited edition. That yellow also “pops” on the 748 and also on a special WorldSBK livery (I think last year) for the official Aruba.it team Panigale.

Hmm, yes to all points. YET, if I’m in that group, am I going to be happy with the delayed-gratification when the vehicle is finally delivered in two or three years? It’s not like whomever reconstructs this thing will be popping in to AutoZone and the local wrecking yard for parts and have it all good to go in a few

I love it so much that I downloaded it when it came out. Always makes me laugh.

I did not imply that it had to be a Ferrari Mondial, I meant any car eligible for the MM.

Best yellow, not best paint scheme/graphics (which the Yamaha “bumble bee” paint is--YZR500, R1, R6, whatever else they’ve put it on). Judging from the leathers and helmet, that must be Alan Cathcart in the photo?

A different Fords Ka commercial (unexpected ending):

The Porsche 911s are close but this gets the cigar:

Hot take: the PSL is trash. And I hated how excited people were to get it, and how upset they’d be when we eventually ran out. Fucking get a life.

Regardless of who did what, this story makes me sad. Ignoring the “white savior” aspect of The Blind Side, it seemed like a kid (regardless of size) who had nothing in life, found a home, people who cared about him, and opened up opportunities for him that would otherwise not have been available, and, that everybody

I agree. I really don’t understand this. It’s a total wreck of a body and frame and missing virtually everything else that constitutes a “car.” Let it go, the world doesn’t need it. And, if the goal is to be able to run in the modern Mille Miglia, somebody with $2M for this wreck plus $XM to “rebuild” it, certainly

What’s your problem? Are you seriously arguing that a racecar or bike isn’t a highly complicated piece of machinery with a myriad of things that can go wrong under racing conditions? No, a spec motorsports event is fraught with all the problems of a non-spec one.

My Second Place: okay, I have never been the driver on those roads but any twisty mountain or hilly road in Israel in a full size tour bus. Narrow as hell, often with no guardrail or low wall, steep, and the bus drivers going like they are in an F1 Q3 session. No lie: those guys (it was always men back then) had

This is a no-brainer: the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles. It’s either jammed with frustrated, angry and exhausted commuters with many on their cellphones, or flying along at other hours (well, at night) at 80 mph with...frustrated, angry, exhausted, and drunk drivers on their cellphones. Either way, it’s a white-knuckle “E

Excellent on you, Lalita, for interviewing a young up-and-coming motorcycle racer. I’ve been reading about Kayla for a couple of years now. Her accomplishments in “guest” appearances in overseas races are fantastic. A lot of young American roadracers have really struggled at that but Kayla is thriving. Her broken leg

Yeah, that’s another can of worms with me. I realize that every sport has judges and referees. However, when the scoring includes subjective judgment on “artistry” (I’m looking at you, gymnastics) or “style” (e.g. nordic ski jumping), I’m not a fan, especially in international competitions where national biases are
