I’m sure others have covered it but this seems to me that it was just a clueless network thinking that all the American viewers are clueless, too, and that we needed all of the extensive, lame hype and spectacle before we could understand the racing.

It’s all so overwhelming. This is why so many people stick with cable: you know what you’ve got and accessing it is just a few clicks away. Also: DVRs/cloud storage. With the myriad of free channels, you can spend forever just trying to find something you like and then you have to remember where it’s located.

I’m pretty sure that “big block” is a little bit tongue-in-cheek. Subaru is known for its sense of humor.

It’s remarkable how backwards-thinking people were in our country back then and even more remarkable how many people remain with such backwards-thinking today (and not just about women in motorsports, either).

I loathe Ted Cruz. I am not defending Ted Cruz. But this fuck-up is likely the work of a (similarly shitty) intern or staffer in his office. How difficult is it to post a photo of the correct person? I’m almost surprised they didn’t just go to Getty Images and grab a photo of the first Black man that they saw. And

All IOMTT on-bike footage looks fake (but isn’t) due to the insanely high speeds and narrow roads. Fight me on this.

This—JumboTron screens are your friend at motorsports events. Otherwise (not including oval tracks, yawn!), you can’t see what’s going on during the race from around the whole track. At Laguna Seca, when they had 500cc/MotoGP motorcycle roadracing events, the hot setup was to sit in the Turn 4 grandstands (no pun

Actually, it’s a place for all Americans (and quite a few foreigners) to blow some money. You’d be surprised how many people make annual (and even more frequent) trip to Vegas. My parents retired to Vegas and lived there almost 30 years. I visited many times and I loathe that place. If you don’t have money for

VW pickups were dogs (bad dogs!) when they were new and still suck now (if you can find one running. This one not only deserves to go to the crusher but the owner should be forced to pay for it. Fight me on this!

I worked at a Honda/Kawasaki dealership in 1989. I didn’t do the financing but the typical customer was young and not financially savvy. Who paid cash? Drug dealers (really).

Was it this guy?

Kawasaki and Honda had (do?) their own financing arms because they are giant corporations. Suzuki and Yamaha didn’t (AFAIR).

I had a customer service representative do that to me yesterday. Fucker.

That may be true re: defaults happening but when you have a home mortgage, car and motorcycle loans, what are you more likely to default on? Right: the bike first and then the car (unless you’re stupid and default on the home before the others).

And did your kid have to use that thumb to modulate the throttle of a motorcycle that reaches speeds over 210 mph? Or have to brace himself using that thumb against the handlebar while braking from such hyper speeds? No?

I’ve had one of these for over two years. It’s great! I line up with a spot on the shelving at the back of my garage, drive in slowly, feel for the right front wheel to drive over the front hump and stop! It’s better than a tennis ball on a string and doesn’t use any batteries. Hint: I used some extra 3M extra-strong

“Nut juice” so as not to confuse it with milk.

Great article on a terrific roadracer! I’d even add that her marriage with Josh Hayes keeps him grounded, too. Neither one of them are known to blow their own horn nor have I ever read a bad work about them. And don’t forget that even with being involved with MP13, Josh is still racing, too. Truly a “power” couple.

Conservative Christians? Over here! Just a moment of your time! Jesus’ teachings basically boil down to:

As a former roadracer who got to compete during a WorldSBK round at Laguna Seca (circa 1998) on a 125cc GP bike, I disagree with that assessment. I had lots of experience riding at Sears Point Raceway (now Sonoma Raceway), Willow Springs Raceway, Buttonwillow Raceway and Thunderhill Raceway. But the pavement at Laguna
