lol “craves Western authenticity”

This is the correct opinion. You’re not so bad, Burneko.

I knew intuitively that this argument was crap, but I had to get some expert input on how to refute it.

Well, there’s no ambiguity in my feelings for a pontificating asshole who ranks the deliciousness of tempura vegetables and hasn’t had something as basic as tempura asparagus.

Tara and Sam are consistently two of the best reasons to visit Gawker Media. No matter what this place does, I’m really hanging around for them. And Jolie Kerr (she is arguably the best columnist).

Woah America.. Easy!! Do people really not talk to their manicurist at all? I’m no mother Teresa but I see this woman every other week for an hour and a half.. Thats about as much time as I spend on date nights with my partner... I know her well,I know about her kids, and her babysitting issues.. Her fiance... and it

Shit. You might be right. Did you read this?

“relieve pressure off the faults” is an urban myth. That was just on the news this morning after the latest Concord earthquake.

Small earthquakes do not relieve pressure. The earth is very large and spinning continuously, so tectonic movement is natural, but in no way the same as a major earthquake.

Not to be an even bigger killjoy, but the Diablo Canyon Nuclear power plant (2 reactors) is built right on an earthquake fault line. So is San Onofre - three inactive reactors that still have all kinds of radioactive stuff stored right there on site.

True story. I’ve always lived in California and have experienced sizable earthquakes here (Landers, Whittier, Northridge). I spend virtually zero time worrying about earthquakes. Fires, on the other hand? Those are terrifying. I live in the foothills and I will never forget the enormous fires here in October 2003. It

Are you a geophysicist?

Earthquakes are measured with the Richter Scale, and it’s logarithmic. This means that lots of little earthquakes do not add up to the equivalent of one big earthquake. They’re not exactly “relieving pressure” along the fault (it is not like letting a little bit of steam out of a boiling pot). More likely, lots of

It was more of a general frustration, not directed exactly at you. I think when people get all worked up about a possible earthquake, they miss that we’re not exactly Haiti, barely held together by plaster. Yet the state has one of the biggest economies in the world, and the drought threatens to end all of it, very

Geologists are predicting a 7-8 magnitude earthquake in the next 30 years, according to my geology professor in Los Angeles.

Um. So I thought this was really dry and funny? Is that because I went to school in England? Is this just English humour? Because I was genuinely amused by her sarcasm.

This is really unnecessary.

It’s a Zach Snyder movie featuring Affleck’s eminently punchable face. There’s no way in hell it will be really awesome.
