No. You stop trying to justify a tipping attitude. You’re the asshole who won’t listen to objective reason.. That’s on you, not me. People do try to justify shittiness all the time, sure, but you’re the one on the defense. But I’m not justifying anything. I’m telling you that you’re just following the motions and you

“...They make minimum wage...”

Explain the “hurting the server a lot” part. How would I be hurting the server if I refrained from leaving a tip? Do they not still get paid minimum wage at the end of the week/every other week? (Because I still got paid minimum wage at the end of every other week, even if my base pay + what servers gave me didn’t end

Wait, let me try to be nicer about that.

The reasons do matter. Why do you think they don’t? I don’t understand where you learned that not-tipping is just as evil as being racist. What’s the source of that lesson? Who taught you that? I’m genuinely curious to know (and to see if you even know where you picked that

I can see your confusion - I was using your “Tipping in the US is meant to be...” as as springboard for my entire case, but the rest of your comment doesn’t really call for that. Sorry. My words aren’t untrue, but yeah, I guess it doesn’t flow super well. Sorry again. Wasn’t really directed towards you, just adding my

The reasons always matter. Even in your really bad analogy, it matters. It’s those reasons that give our world and conversations context and meaning. It’s how we find the root cause of a problem. If every time a car caught fire in the past 100 years, engineers said “the reasons don’t matter - cars are dangerous, we

Woah. Hold on.

Has anyone who is commenting on this thread every worked a day in the level of food service that is being discussed here?

Everything? They’re literally checking in every 10 minutes (if even that), taking a handful of orders/follow-up requests, maybe pre-busing a table, and taking payment. They’re responsible for the table for 45+ minutes, sure, but they’re definitely not doing 45 minutes of actual work.

The amount of time I watched

First of all, there is no guarantee that they’re making any more than minimum wage to being with, with tips. For all you know, they’re breaking even, right at minimum wage, and all we’re doing is lining the pocket books of the employer - because then that’s less money they have to shell out to their employed.

Anyway, Fe

I disagree. You shouldn’t tip. Anywhere. Businesses should learn to pay their employees for the work they do, and if they fire people who... don’t get tipped?, they’ll have to fire everyone, which is impossible, so then they’d just... pay everyone and that’d be that.

It’d have to be policy, though - it can’t be one or

You assume everyone who is against it is against it for a singular reason - you don’t even know why, do you? You haven’t even thought about it once, huh? Have you ever asked one of those “Mr. Pink”s why they thought what they thought?

Did it ever occur to you that maybe you’re being fleeced and the rest of us don’t buy

US law dictates that all tipped jobs, unless meeting certain criteria for exclusion, must make minimum wage - either by tips, or by reimbursement by the employer. The employer must make up the difference if the tips don’t cut it.

I think, if you can’t live on minimum wage, then get a better job - and live on minimum

Every ask yourself “why”? And ever actually think about it/research it for yourself? Or are you just going with the “if you don’t, you’re an asshole, end of story.”

No, it’s not. Why do you think it is? Who taught you that and, if you take a moment to think about it with your own brain, why do you think it is?

I disagree. I don’t think tipping is a requirement. What are you reasons for thinking it is? Other than, “I saw it on TV once, and a guy I knew said I was a being cheap if I didn’t.”

One time I was at a GameCrazy, back when that was a thing/there was one in my town. I went to the counter after browsing the store a bit and ask the gal/guy behind the register, “you got any free stuff?”

They hand me a copy of Mary-Kate and Ashley Magical Mystery Mall for Ps1. Someone tried to trade it in, but it

I just want to say that I love the future, and that my Internet is so good. Relatively, of course.

I was reading a Twitter thing that appeared on my cellular device and there was mention that this one is not Bluetooth enabled.

Then I was like, “why would you even want that? If you’re shaving off milliseconds with those paddles and higher-accuracy thingys, why use Bluetooth to erase that advantage?”

Just... use a

I’m pretty sure it’s all of those things that end with people just taking sleeping pills. Sometimes too many of them. Probably not the best way to get some rest.

I thought that was the back of a Switch at first and... well, you know what? I don’t even care about limited editions or whatever anymore. I’ve successfully painted my PC using stencils and clearcoat - and it turned out kind of great. I can only get better from here, and if I really want, I’ll just paint my own logos
