Original Honda Insight. Weighs less than 2000 lbs, has a Honda five-speed manual, gets more than 60 mpg even if you’ve got a lead foot, and they’re regularly for sale with north of 300K miles on the clock.

Just sayin

For the 99% of the world who doesn’t read Jalopnik or care about cars, anyone not driving a Camry or equivalent is compensating for something.

I’d like to submit a challenge to this proposal, just a few moments late.

I’m driving around Maine right now in an old Tercel 4WD with a non-functioning heater. I have to mentally prepare myself several times a day before getting inside and touching a steering wheel that feels like it was cut out from an Alaskan glacier.

I’d love an article explaining power outputs on electric vehicles. I’m used, like everyone here, to horsepower, lbs-ft of torque, and have a vague understanding of the European equivalents (PS, N-M, etc).

But I’ve got zero grasp whatsoever on volts, amp-hours, kilowatts, kwh, and how they translate into the figures

I’m curious about contemporary wheel sizes in performance cars--specifically, why they’re so big.  Reducing unsprung weight is one of the best things you can do to improve a car’s handling.  Auto manufacturers spend so much money developing lightweight brakes, suspensions, carbon fiber wheels, etc specifically to

Have you ever driven a BMW i8?

Much smarter. Like you actually, I don’t know, thought about what you were doing before acting.

Well, you know how tailgaters make you want to speed up on the highway to get them off your ass? Well, I sped up all the way to 115 before realizing the tailgater was an oinker. Haven’t been caught speeding since, and it’s been three years.

This is a GM-wide issue. Chevrolet Impalas and Corvettes look great from the front, and then the designers just gave up on the rear. Probably the same thing with their crossovers, and Buicks, but I simply cannot find the motivation to look them up.

Man, I’m rooting so hard for Cadillac. But with this thing, they dropped the ball like NYE in NYC.

It’s a slight misconception that the LX platform is based off that old E-Class— really, they took the five-speed auto, multi-link rear suspension, and a couple other bits and bobs from the Merc, and integrated them into an all-new chassis design.

If it’s a Turkish company, shouldn’t it be Karsan Ottomotive? Ottomantive?

I was wondering if you could clear up some of my confusion on why this car exists. Merc already has their CLS AMGs, which look pretty much the same as this, are pretty much as powerful, and are pretty much the same size. Is the AMG GT four-door based off a stretched AMG GT, and is thus a much sportier proposition than

Ha! Used Aston Martin DB9 is the best looking car under $50K.

Brawn F1 and Jenson Button back in the late 2000s? That was a Honda car.

Always loved those, and the W8 Passats as well. But don’t the reliability issues with both of those cars pale in comparison to the rolling Teutonic time bomb that was the Q7 V12 TDI?

(On a side note, isn’t it funny that a car person can write a string of letters and numbers—for instance, “E9 3.0 CSL”, “W213 E63 S AMG”,

If I’m not much mistaken, the man who died (allegedly) watching Harry Potter in his Tesla while it was on autopilot, died because the car couldn’t recognize a white colored tractor trailer, due to sun glare. I see an argument for getting rid of gray-scale color options for cars, and returning to a more 1950s-1970s

Actually super interesting. Trunk on my mom’s 240 wagon is much bigger and more practically shaped than on dad’s ‘99 XC70, not to mention a current V60, although that’s a class smaller. I’d like to see an article explaining this.
