Because the government will be neutral!!!?!!! Especially when it comes to news and more specifically political news. Give the government, regardless of political leanings at any given moment, control over the news and media and it will be regulated, misused, and abused.  It would make the current “opinion as news”…

Why does it have to be the gov’t. Why can’t a competing business set up a news outlet where journalists/content-producers keep more or even the bulk of the profits?
