@Howard Blair: Actually according to Cyberdyne it was designed with a variety of uses in mind, most of them medical (Rehabilitation and Physio Therapy for instance).

@Platypus Man: It doesn't really combine them though. It feels more like an anthology program with consistent characters than a cohesive show. The different tones are constrained by who wrote/directed each episode, andt hat means they're never really harmoniously blended.

@Platypus Man: They were rhetorical questions, and I disagree that it works in the show's favour.

@An_Enemy: Sorry, I know this is kind of an old post, but wrong! Super wrong! Jack alludes to being raped or sexually exploited in like two or three separate dialogues (one of them a Barkstring). The kicker is that each dialogue alludes to a separate instance of rape. One while in Cerberus Captivity, one on the

The Problem with Torchwood has always been that it's not sure what it wants to be, so the tone swings wildly from episode to episode, or even in the same episode.

I'm just glad that Spider's glasses from Transmetropolitan aren't on the list. It's kind of awful how quickly he botches the series by turning Spider into a preachy author self-insert.

In the absence of God, it is comforting to know that everything about me is recorded. My essays from Highschool through University are saved, my failed attempts to blog are still online (as are scattered, pathetic bundles of metafiction), comments on blog posts or articles in newspapers or forum posts are preserved

@An_Enemy: The Human Reaper thing was the groanworthy ending. Oh no a giant terminator out of nowhere that has nothin to do with the plot because the plot is all about getting to know the other characters oh shit

@Elzeard: No because for the most part they miss the point. Shit that is actually smart and clever, like the Mrs. Premise and Mrs. Conclusion sketch, gets parsed as W-A-C-K-Y Absurdism because science/engineering wonks have no idea who Sartre is.

Y'know, nothing's more annoying than when science/engineering wonks quote Monty Python.

@KirkyX: And yet you still don't have one :P

@KirkyX: Because I read other things on this blog, saw the headline, and decided to post a bitchy comment about Daddy Issues: The Video Game?

If it's as badly written as the game I think I'm so disinterested that it actually loops back around into morbid curiousity about how terrible it's going to be.

@Ravennl: Have you ever read Consumed by Benjamin Barber? His basic thesis is that Markets act to have an infantalizing effect on consumers since immature adults are optimal consumers. Its a good argument and it's kind of stuck with me ever since and whenever I see adults praising kids' movies (including "grown up"

@Arken: True. It'd probably turn out like Scott Pilgrim with the main character's arc completely rewritten to make up for the fact that Cera (either due to ability or his indelible turn as George Michael Bluth) is trapped in one role.

@Ravennl: To be honest I haven't seen it. I'm dismissing it on the basis of the other Pixar movies I've seen, and I haven't been dragged to one since my boyfriend made me watch the one with the rats.

@Arken: I dunno, I never got the impression that Holden was particularly self-confident. His arc through the whole book is basically circling the drain and being aware of it.

@ThisDudeRufus: Actually those would both be pretty good fits. Ferrell would be a good fit for the Miller since he excels at broad roles (Though the Miller's Tale is more of an Adam Sandler kinda thing) and Cera would be great as Holden Caulfiend because he's all awkward and weird and the embodiment of teenage myopia.

@Ravennl: That's what I was told about the last Pixar movie I got dragged to, and the one before that. I really don't see it. They really are just standard kids movies as far as I can tell. They teach hackneyed cliche lessons, have cute animals, and don't really have anything interesting or unique to say/do with their

@Ravennl: Yeah, Really. Maybe I'm wrong, I've managed to avoid being dragged to any pixar movie after the one with the rats, but all the ones I saw were bog standard kids movies with great art direction.
