@Hoser Dave: Yes, because a Saab Sonnet was also destroyed here.

@RB26Skyline: Yeah, after all, Exxon (/Mobile) is still around, or, at least rebounded.
Back in "the day" a buddy of mine was driving me homein his black and tan X-11. In high school, in the early 90's, we thought it was a pretty fast car, so to show it off, he speeds up to 90 in a 55 zone. a few seconds later a cruiser passes in the opposite direction, spins around and catches up to us in what seemed…
"Parkinsons-ridden testicles with arms."
@jalopnikfan: yuck. I'll take the red & green livery over blackout on the F40. Blackout just makes it look like a slammed import.
Bucket-o-ridiculous.
Am I the only one who sees hints of C7?
@vavon205: I always loved the roundies much more as well, but at least in America, EVERY front-end was going with square (rectangular) headlights. After all, that 80's were all about hard angles.
I'm a big 'ole MK1 fan, but the Rabbit pickup just never grabbed me the way it did my fellow high-school VW enthusiast friends. Still doesn't.
@Dedend: That looks positively terrifying.
I'm with you on the warping space around it. All those aerodynamic doodads are mind-bending.
We've all seen some serious absurdity come out of the malaise era, but this one has to take the cake. A Pinto engine? Really? What an aweful conversion idea. AWFUL!
@vavon205: A buddy of mine had a mid-80's 323 with a 4-speed that he used for his shop's loaner car. The RPM's in the tach-less car were terrifying on the highway but it was shocking quick around town—faster than a friend's Supra of similar vintage.
I had a '77 Scirocco. It was a great little car, surprisingly flingable and quicker than my [naturally-aspirated] Audi Coupe—both in cornering and straight-line performance.
@JuanOxido: I remember kids in my neighborhood had those examples of late-70's awesomeness. Great drift-trainers but straight-line stability left something to be desired.
@f86sabre: Always lusted after one of those things as a kid.
Learned to drive "stick" on a dilapidated old 3-spd lawn tractor when I was 7...No one ever believes me when I say it though until I show them the pics.
@GV_Goat: THANK YOU for posting this image. I've been trying to remember the name of that toy for years.
@Nurburgring: You see sir, the problem is with your perspective. If you look at this contraption not as a car, but as a large, two-seater roller skate then it's actually quite charming.
@phthaloblack: love it.
