It looks like a mix of 60s and 70s MBZ design elements....its different. Sedan sales are tanking in most markets and the E class needs to look more distinctive.  

The US car market is totally saturated and European brands with questionable quality, and reliability are suffering. Look at Fiat and Alfa Romeo as prime examples. Good luck Peugeot!

It would appear that this pickup was built from a Sprinter. The tailgate had to come from a pickup, in this case a Ford, since MBZ does not sell a pickup in the US. The demand for rear wheel drive gas sedans is shrinking. Add the cost to build, this car was doomed to only law enforcement when new in the USA.  Used they may have a huge potential!

True, but performance, quality, technology, ergonomics, comfort, etc have drastically improved in 35 years. Investment Ferrari’s are just not practical to drive often.

Ferrari should be building a better proportioned version of this car.

Race history and who drove this GTO is probably more important than the series II body. Since only 3 have this body its value should be higher.
