Always assumed that was a shout-out to this number from ‘Kiss Me Kate’.

Most of the Trump supporters didn’t get the Medicare expansion, so they will still get nothing. And the people that did get Insurance subsidies and didn’t have medical problems will be saving thousands a year in premiums that they don’t have to pay.

I remember at university, a bunch of the girls would say that this one professor was “hot”. I didn’t have a class with him for the first year but finally had a class with him my second year. I promptly went back to my friends after my first day of class and told them that their eyes were lying to them. They had been

Oh, crikey. This is not a man/woman thing — they both screwed up in doing their jobs. Read the article — once the fuck up happened, she did not react quickly as she should have. They both did a poor job, period. This isn’t sexism at work, and it would have happened no matter what the sexes of the two accountants were.

This is what happens when you lower the standard of human conduct the way he has. The press has decided anything even remotely above that absolves what came before.

Thanks for the post - I went and read most of the replies because the contrast was so striking and echoed by many of the folks reacting on twitter.

Fuck anyone who thinks anything he every says has any meaning other than what his actions are. Or what Steve Bannon is trying to accomplish.

As a vet myself this is something everyone needs to understand: sometimes American Soldiers die for no good reason. They die in accidents, in blue-on-blue attacks, from improper medical care, in stupid wars, in badly planned missions. It happens. “Soldiers have died” is not a reason to keep fighting in and of itself.

Yes, gawd. Like the pinnacle of that soldier’s life was getting the longest applause before Congress in history upon his death. Who thinks like that? Jesus, this man is disgusting.

Jesus christ. He is such an odious human being.

The family of the vet does get to make a choice. Owens’ wife made one choice (yes, you can use me as a prop); his father made another (GTFO you moron whose idiotic decision got my son killed).

Trotting out the military as props is like Politics 101. Their families are inherently sympathetic, and Soldiers get virtually no say in what they are told to do (if someone tells them to go stand next to the President and have him pin on an award, thats what they do). Plus politicians can funnel all sorts of money

I refused to watch the speech, because obviously, but when I saw the headlines on NY1 this morning with the “press” pivoting to say he was “Presidential” and didn’t pee on any of the carpets, my reaction was, ‘here we go...’

The draft is the last thing the warmongers want — it’s not like they send their own kids off to die.

Chris Cilizza is consistently and dangerously moronic. But “Donald Trump understood the applause for Carryn Owens was a moment. And he let it be.” is simply wrong.

Remember when Dems made jokes about Dubya and complained about how ‘bad’ he was? What percentage of those people would vote for a Dubs third term over Trump right now? 101%?

It’s a great argument. And it’s absolutely right. I just wish it would actually work with conservatives, who excel in climbing the ladder that government leaves for them and then attempting to pull it up behind them. See Ryan, P. and Thomas, C., among many, many others.
