Whoa, wh0a, whoa. This site has been pretty impressive in NOT having a bias towards Clinton. I would venture to say that Gawker as a whole has actually been biased TOWARDS Sanders.
Ah, yes, because funds for Secret Service details get converted to funds for people’s clothes. What are you smoking?
I don’t use the word hate lightly. I also try to remember that most people aren’t good or bad, everyone has some humanity, etc, etc.
Would you be in favor of a Journalist Watch List where journalists merely under suspicion of say, publishing a leak, are prohibited from publishing anything until/if they successfully challenge their inclusion on the list?
Very late. But not too late.
I agree with both statements. This is why I don’t think it’s a good idea to create a ban on one based on the existence of the other.
I think it’s a little more complicated than that. For one thing, part of the murkiness of the watch list is that I’m not sure of what it actually is used for now. I had a vague sense that it just meant that the FBI was watching you, which would be potentially annoying but wouldn’t necessarily restrict your normal…
I’m in favor of massively restricting access to guns, but I don’t want to base it on the terror watch list either. It’s murky and without due process (sure, you can write a letter, but who says they’ll do anything about it?); it’s not a good standard to decide how we restrict gun rights.
sure, but its without due process. even the ACLU deems it “constitutionally inadequate” and are challenging it in court
Yes, I am totally a dumb hick racist because I don’t think the government should take away rights without having to prove anything. All they have to do is put your name on a list. It’s a bad precedent to set, especially with the possibility of a Trump presidency.
also because you can’t deny someone their constitutional right based on a website they visit
Or that people don’t like the idea that you can be put on a list, not receive due process, and end up losing your rights. Interestingly enough, in the 60's, that list would have been filled with primarily civil rights leaders.
it is an imperfect, error-riddled list compiled seemingly arbitralily that, if tied to gun control, would restrict citizens of their rights with almost no avenue for recourse
There is meaningful work that can be done to make gun purchases safer, but the terror watch list definitely a stupid thing to hang your hat on. The FBI has a pretty long history of naming liberal activists as terrorists. Also, it doesn’t have due process.
i maintain that the terrorist watch list is a weird thing to hang your gun control cross on but
If you love Michelle, I wouldn’t wish a third term as FLOTUS in her. It’s a bullshit, antiquated and thankless position, and I’m sure she’s so ready to go back to having a life where she can make her own choices about her life and career (or lack there of should she decide not to go back to work).
Please create a founding father’s twitter account. You will win the internet.
Can you imagine if the founding fathers had twitter? Adams would have a meltdown every other week. Jefferson would quit every other week with like “I just want to focus on what’s really important. All love, y’all, but I’m tired of it all” and then come back two days later as though nothing had happened. All of…
