The whole agent part from the first 1/3 of FWWM is one of my all time favorite sequences in film. Loved it. Was kind of hoping Lynch would do some more of that since the movie has been mentioned so much in this lead up.

Yeah, no.

Now playing

If anyone’s interested, here’s the new title sequence:

I’m a boomer and can state that the same is basically true of Ohio (sans Cleveland and parts of Columbus) which I could see changing before my eyes over a thirty year period. When I got the opportunity, I bolted to the Twin Cities where it’s a completely different world.

Why the hell would I want to live in a small town with no services, nothing to do, and that hates my existence? I’ve been to Iowa. Stayed there for two weeks. No thank you!

I do miss some things about Iowa. But after Drake I left for grad school and never came back. I’m part of the brain drain. Also I don’t recognize my hometown anymore. Some of it is the town factory closing, but it’s probably me seeing it with an east cost view now.

Last time I went home to Iowa the Hardee’s was now a drive through liquor store... let that sink in for a while. At least Taco Johns’s was going strong. I would advice against the Hy-Vee cafeteria unless you want a reunion with all your former teachers, especially the ones you never wanted to see again.

My Dad actually has apologized for his generation for fucking mine over in many different ways.

Yeah—I’m Iowa born and raised and I was thinking the same thing today. About the horseshit of brain drain and how Iowa and the upper midwest believe they should be retaining more of the folk that make money and businesses and blah blah blah ad infinitum. Small and medium sized Iowa towns are smug. And provincial. And

I’m happy to hear the northern Colorado PP (the one I assume is serving most WY women) will stay open. That was the only place I could get exams and birth control when I was in college, and most of the other women in my dorm went there too because it was close by and inexpensive.

“Are you really willing just to go down a tier to a man who’s just kind of mediocre but can still do the job instead of reaching across and getting the talented woman?”

New Yorker just came in the mail.

Yeah, I sense that he’s a conniving bastard, as most fundie hypocrites are.

That’s ok, David Lynch isn’t for everyone

It’s okay to just say it’s not for you.

you are wrong said the fat controller

This is so obviously a control ploy to punish her for walking out on him. The $17 just happens to be the only leverage/excuse he has to hit up everyone she knows and publicly disparage her.

Fuck this guy.

DONALD TRUMP: It’s a great honor to meet you finally. Great country you have here. Not the best country. But great murals of you and your dad and your dad’s dad. Very thinning.

Yup, I was just listening, He delivered the most generic accolades to the work of the Coast Guard and then swiftly pivoted into a “woe is me” speech. And it went on and on. It was pretty fucking disgusting. He made their graduation about himself and his self-induced problems.
