Jeez all the comments on this. I have no horse in this race, for me the analogy is like voting between Michelle Bachman or Sarah Palin or trying to figure out who to take dating advice from, Robin Thicke or Charlie Sheen.

He helped normalize the situation that led to Trump by validating the unrepentantly ignorant when he elevated Sarah Palin to VP candidate and gave her a national forum. There is no penance that he is able to do in my mind for that unforgivable act although if he wants to swat at Trump let him.
