In general federal employees are allowed to engage in political activity but, they aren’t allowed to do so while at work or under the guise of their employment unless they’re an official spokesperson. Yeah, it is. I think the thing that is responsible is the Hatch act, which makes federal employees unable to engage in “political activity” while on their job. What that political activity includes is kinda vague and Googling it didn’t give me anything really conclusive, but yeah, basically the FAA can do that.
