Spoken like a true conspiracy theorist
A) Jezebel had a full page piece in support of Lupita’s op-ed within hours of it coming out.
B) The Weinstein response hit sometime late yesterday and got the low billing it deserves, in the next available Dirt Bag. Especially considering it hit right before the weekend and we know they switch over to night/weekend…
I wanted to post something similar. I can understand him wanting back in, being a wrestler is literally the passion of his entire lifetime, and when something like that is suddenly, cruelly snatched away from you... I cannot even imagine how hard that is.
So like when Bart made an “Angry Dad” cartoon?
Nope!
Counterpoint: Starship Troopers sucked. I think most/all of the satire was unintended and Verhoeven is a fucking hack.
I’ve gotten really tired of all the people who insist that the only reason others don’t like it is that the satire was too subtle. It’s not subtle, and it’s not very good.
I feel conflicted. On the one hand, I agree with everything you said. On the other, I died laughing at “Excuse me. I’ll have a vodka soda...and no, I’m not trying to rape you”. Maybe we’ll get more him down the line sometime and they’ll reveal it was just a bad time for him as he’s trying to find himself or something
Oh no, a billionaire funded a lawsuit against a gigantic company that was clearly in the wrong. I guess it would be better if Hogan was just unable to pay for his justified lawsuit.
Our only hope is if the New York Times is smart enough not to host revenge porn and refuse to take it down even after a court order!
Multiple times, the characters practically turned to each other and said “Tell me your backstory!” One time they fought over who would tell the other their backstory first. Way too much time was devoted to this; they aren’t even interesting backstories.
Yeah, it’s a really high-concept show, and the overarching mystery only added to the problem of too much plot for 22 minutes. Hopefully, once all the backstory/mythology is established, it’ll have an easier time balancing plot with comedy. It might take a couple of episodes.
Yes. I’m willing to give the show a shot, but the pilot sucked on ice because it was an hourlong script stuffed into 22 minutes. Cram this backstory in, shove a character motivation in there as well, and also fit a full story about the Bureau’s star agent disappearing alongside. Scenes were rushed and suffered from…
Because not everyone is such a twat.
Its like a Toyota FJ had an allergic reaction
That’s very generous.
“Rick sucks. Beth sucks. Everything sucks—at least if you’re smart.”
Tbh, kinda felt like a big misfire to me. Tossing the entire main cast into the apathy boat, then leaning into the “misery through intelligence” bullshit they’ve been lampshading in a way that certain fans will inevitably take at face value... like a “worst of” episode compilation.
I think what Jez is doing here is beyond cynical and fucked up but... I believe it’s true. I have a amateur comic friend who... had an incident with him. Something about him trying to move her hand, her recoiling and saying “no, I don’t want to” and him reacting quite violently. I am paraphrasing from memory here, but…
