Or maybe Warren, Biden, Franken, Sanders, AND Cuomo and Johnson can all participate in the primary and let people decide who to vote for?
Or maybe Warren, Biden, Franken, Sanders, AND Cuomo and Johnson can all participate in the primary and let people decide who to vote for?
And yet everyone knew they were still running on the policies they were running on.
But at the same time, they were still winning legislatures. And that was on the heels of Bush tanking the country and becoming historically unpopular to the point where his supporters pretended they hadn’t voted for him and forming a new pretend party. This most recent Dem loss came as Obama had high approval rates…
And I get yelled at when I say both parties are bad :)
“Ultimately, if you are so certain that progressives can win, then it shouldn’t be a problem at all to avoid getting your precious little booties paddled in the primaries in 2020, right?”
This is a lie or outright stupidity.
It’s not what they ran on because they didn’t run on it. 90% of the campaign was about how Clinton was competent and Trump was trash, with a heavy slant to the latter. And those are both true, but they couldn’t explain why they cared about being President. Go read the article about how they considered “its her turn”…
Utterly lost as in while they’ve controlled the party it’s shrunk to the point where the other side controls the entire federal government and has complete domination over a large majority of state governments.
If I never see another misguided assertion that Joe Biden is some sort of progressive hero, it will be too soon.
I am not saying that they have to do exactly what the “Dirtbag Left” is calling for - though I will admittedly say that that is my preferred course of action - what I am saying is that what the Democrats have been doing is no longer working as evidenced by their complete lack of power in American political…
“How to win” Democrats may have won the popular vote, but they’ve utterly lost on almost every other level, except at beating “stand for something” Democrats. And when you’ve made winning your sole reason for existing, you’d sure as hell better win.
But that remark actually has context that you and others are still ignoring: they do have ideas, they are pushing for them, they are influencing people to actually do shit on the ground rather than accept the bland platitudes of an inept party apparatus that can’t do anything but get in its own way. The current party…
I think the true torpedoing was the Carter Administration. They re-gained the Southern vote then congress totally buttfucked Carter while he had absolutely no idea how to deal with it and voila, Reagan.
Results matter and the “how to win” Democrats have lost all 3 federal banches and a vast majority of statehouses.
she wasn’t actually running on her husband’s platform from 1992.
There’s a fundamental problem in that the party leadership wants candidates who bring in donations while voters want candidates who speak to them. The ones who bring in steady donations, like the Pelosis and Clintons aren’t the same ones who motivate like the Warrens and Sanders.
The Dems have chosen how to find and it’s the Clintonian Triangle: Selling out your base to steal the opponents’. But once again, we’ve seen that this only works when your candidate is legendarily charismatic.
Even though I am a liberal, I hate Shareblue. Shareblue was created to be the ‘Breitbart of the left’. And that’s not just me saying that. It’s founder David Brock (ie, the douchebag who was a Republican in the 90s and smeared the Clintons before getting paid more money to defend them).
The thing is, this is like when Fox news tried to call out The Daily Show for not being “Fair and balanced.” That’s not The Daily Show’s slogan, just like winning isn’t the fucking goal of the “dirtbag left.” Winning is the goal of centrist, career politicians. That and claiming to “go high” are the only currency…
I’ve been thinking a lot about the following tweet, by, I gather, some Democratic Party-aligned liberal guy who…
