Two United staffers I’m talking with are clear: the man was asked to deplane and he refused. They ask: what else were they supposed to do?

“Shrug! THE FINE PRINT IS PARAMOUNT! He would have gotten some monetary compensation! He should have accepted his fate without complaint!”
“He is the best soccer player ever born in this country and is beloved for that fact, even though he never played for the U.S.”
Your rights were basically forfeit the second you purchased the ticket. Passengers agree to being bumped (with compensation) whether they read the fine print or not. Dude probably should have read the fine print. The police shouldn’t have body slammed him.
That corporation is just as human as you are, Bubs.
I was on a Delta flight last week and we were parked on the runway for a half-hour not moving because we were waiting for another plane to leave, and the friend I was traveling with had to use the restroom. Not knowing how much longer we’d be sitting there, she got up to go, at which point the flight attendant came…
I work retail and I am constantly amazed at how often some of my coworkers will enforce stupid rules or try to meet dumb quotas that only help the corporation.
Some of the comments on the previous articles on this story are as upsetting to me as the actual event. I cannot get behind the idea that it’s ok to assault someone because they won’t adhere to a frivolous airline policy when multiple other options were open to the airline.
Maybe airlines shouldn’t overbook flights? But that would be too easy of a solution, would never happen.

This whole “OBEY ANY AND EVERY ORDER YOU ARE GIVEN OR YOUR HUMAN RIGHTS ARE FORFEIT” deal aboard airliners is getting really old.
Congratulations to Drew! I knew Emmitt would eventually hire a pro social media guy!

I have no idea what the best move is, for the US or for humanity.
So is it bad that Trump is meeting the sovereign of China? This sounds like a good thing IMO
That ticker along the bottom is very interesting, as we don’t seem to need to declare war anymore to bomb the ever-loving shit out of people.
Would also have accepted: Johnny Manziel, Vince Young, Heath Shuler, Jake Locker, Danny Wuerffel, Billy Joe Hobert...
Thank you for using the term “jamokes” so seamlessly in the very apt description of the WR core around McNabb. That guy gets zero respect for a very above average career.
So basically, he dedicated thousands of words to saying “Black people are naturally talented but lazy and arrogant so you shouldn’t draft them as quarterbacks.”
