One. Trick. Pony.

nah. Their point predicting victim blaming is a good one. Too that end, maybe we should stick to blaming the trolls for trollish behavior?

Hey now. Let's not blame her for predicting trollish behavior....wait a sec....what is blaming someone for the negative actions of others called?

"You girls have never been attracted to me. I don't know why you girls aren't attracted to me. But I will punish you all for it"

"You think it's crazy that a college should act to keep students safe? That's what we're talking about here."

I know, right?!

Yeah, it will probably be helpful for me to check out the vice issue for more insight into his perspective- which I will at some point. If I can just...walk...away...from Kinja.

Yeah, she just has to lean in!

I don't see that implication. War is the focus of the discussion, in PoC territory, as documented by a rich traveling white dude.

Like many middle class women, she delayed child birth to manage contemporary mother vs. career pressures.

"The human condition includes war, savagery, looting rape and violence."

Oops, as I just did! I've been reading too many headlines that erroneously identified Conchita as a trans woman.

*sigh* Because of course it did.

It's true that comment sections are not reflective. But headlines are. A quick google search illustrates the Islamophobic reaction to the kidnappings. See for example here, here, and here.

Well, this is going sideways. See my original point: the author is avoiding a defamation suit - in the UK and elsewhere - by keeping Cooper's name out of her memoir.

I wish there wasn't a huge resultant backlash against Islam right now as a result of this kidnapping, but a quick google search of western media outlets suggests otherwise. The comment sections, in particular, are horrific.

The book is being sold globally and so is vulnerable to suits in multiple legal jurisdictions. I agree that litigation would likely occur in the US, but the UK is not shielded.

Weak or not, if there was fund raiser for this litigation I would contribute. TMZ needs a taste of its own harassment. Expensive law suits are one way to do this.

We'll have to disagree. My point was that I believe Paullclosed knows what they are talking about. Defamation suits can be expensive; the author is attempting to avoid litigation. Cheers.

Correlation is not causation, people. Just because the kidnappers are Muslim, doesn't mean that all Muslims are rights-restricting kidnappers.
