Dude in the black shirt…
… looks like Romulan Jack Black.

AJR, on the Internet, no fact is inarguable.

Having now watched the show…
I get the comparisons to Roseanne and especially Malcolm in the Middle,
but I felt like this show is missing the undercurrent of anger that gave those shows a bit of edge. I don't want to criticize it for not being more like it's influences, but it felt a little slight and safe in the wake

And Smiling Politely beat me to it, below.

Jimmy Eat World was my first thought, too, but that might not be obvious enough. I'll guess Stuck in The Middle With You.

They mention Lesbian Robin first, but I don't know that they were neccesarily going in order of appearance.

If their relationship was more established, I could totally see Robin being okay with Barney going to the odd strip club, but given that the relationship is so new and still kinda ill-defined, I can buy her being a bit insecure.

Oh, man, I had my own doppleganger moment last night. Conan did a gag that involved showing Judy Garland with a 5 o'clock shadow, and she looked just like a friend from college. Creeeepy.

Pierce and Jeff
I think the reason Pierce has latched onto Jeff is, like I think he said in the pilot, Jeff reminds him of himself. Pierce as a younger man probably got by a lot on his charm and never really cared about anything, but now that he's older and nobody's impressed by him anymore, he's feeling empty. In

Another aspect that give me hope is that the future they all see isn't very far away, which means they'll have to keep the story moving along and won't have too much time to meander into dead ends. On the other hand, that does raise it's own questions: How much story will be left once we catch up to this future?

Well, Jesus was a wrestler… Or was that Lincoln?

As you can see there, just thinking about it has me disoriented.

Undressed was hypnotic. Undressed marathons were the closest I ever got to experienceing "mising time."

Astro Fighter Sunred
Sounds a bit like Astro Fighter Sunred, which is about a Power Ranger-ish hero who mooches off his girlfriend and only occasionally fights monsters from an ineffectual nearby "evil organization." But Sunread spends a lot time with the villains, playing their ordinary and friendly personalities

Bravo, sir.

True enough, but they don't have much time to play that card.

I'm not sure Michelle has broken her oath. Her oath was to dedicate herself to helping people, but I'm not sure it's necessary to live in complete self-denial to do that. What God wants from her may be a little less rigid than what she thinks she promised.

Chapter One
Getting rid of Katrina offscreen like that was unsatisfying. The trippy dream sequence felt a little hokey, but given that this show has pretty well established the idea that God may be communicating with the characters, I tried to go with it. I'm ambivalent about the narration by the scribe, ending with

Well, hello! Who's this hadsome devil?

A lot of police work amounts to sitting around doing nothing, but those aren't the parts you show on your show. You show the exciting bits, and it's understood the viewer is only seeing moments of the character's lives.
