I watched a couple of movies in the last week and there were ads just at the beginning. However I also watched a few episodes of the Kids In The Hall revival and there were ads dropped in every, I don’t know, 6-8 minutes or so, without any attention paid to natural breaks (between sketches, say, instead of right…
I wouldn’t mind if it were just a minute before a show. But nope, they’re intercutting shows with ads, too. As you might imagine, there is no attempt to logically place the ads within the shows, so they often cut in right in the middle of a scene. It’s...not awesome. But I refuse to give Bezos any more of my money for…
Per other reports they also nixed Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos from the standard tier. I assume that’s going to get added into the lawsuit.
I’m replying to this thread, but hopefully everyone can benefit from this response. American Sign Language(ASL) is it’s own language with syntax, grammar and culture all tied together. Subtitles, close captioning, etc is for those that read in the same language that is used for the spoken language. For example, if I am…
Mime a needle injection motion
ASL isn’t simply a substitute for subtitles. It also demonstrates the inflections for words. Like when someone’s tone goes up or down. Now, this is less important I suppose for music, but for a speech, or dialogue it’s very helpful.
It’s common for things that are televised live, where the live captioning is still very mistake ridden.
Pity the hearing impaired folks in the nosebleed seats.
I’m guessing they do it because they don’t think of it as a “performance” so much as an aid for people who are deaf/HOH, and then from they think, “Well, it’s just the national anthem, they already know the words probably, so we don’t really need to show it.” But of course by that line of thinking why bother having…
The Superbowl being on is a great reason to go see a movie in a theater, as it assures a Wednesday matinee crowd on a weekend schedule.
Glad it went out on a high note. The penultimate episode, “Elora’s Dad”, easily rivals The Last of Us “Bill and Frank” episode.
Vince McMahon got an executive producer credit for Scorpion King for giving the Rock time off to shoot the movie.
Oh dear, oh bother, oh heavens to Betsy and also to Murgatroyd. That completely invalidates my comment, reality as a concept, and myself to boot. I am vanquished.
Plus there are EP roles that mean “I raised the money for this”
That’s always been the problem with Trump, and now just Republicans in general. You could parody Dubya-era Republicans because they were still clinging to a thin veneer of respectability. They, too, were shameless ghouls and con men, but they still behaved as if they could be shamed. Trump’s schtick has always been…
IIRC it was actually The Colbert Report’s Twitter account—which Colbert himself had nothing to do with—tweeting out “I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever” without the context of the original joke, and Suey Park and…
“he thought making fun of Asian people was the best counter to white people being racist against Native Americans.”
WTF are you talking about? The only thing I ever remember Colbert doing could possibly be construed that way was a single bit he did early on where he was mocking some other hosts who had been caught on…
I think that show wouldn’t work with a president more extreme than the character.
