Is it for no reason, though? Or is it part of this guy’s characterization of being a drunk/moron/asshole/criminal? I’ve not played the games, but just looking at the header picture, the guy seems to be embodying a number of “Southern hick jackass” stereotypes, a negative portrayal, in which case the symbol fits.

No more bad people in games. It gives bad people something to latch onto.

How did you see that trailer and think that it wasn’t still silly? SR4 wasn’t silly. It was a series a parodies.

Im one of the people who enjoyed Saints Row IV but really didn’t like it in comparison to Saints Row III. With that said, Saints Row III was already bonkers enough as it is. If toning down the new game would mean going back to Saints Row 3 levels of ridiculousness, then I am all for it.

All I know is that it’s in really bad form for an OpEd writer to hijack the comments to defend his work when his piece already had the headline. It’s like the first thing you’re taught getting a journalism degree - let your piece speak for itself, if it doesn't - well, you've already failed and no whining about it

To be fair, your opinion is basically “It sucks that Saints Row isn’t over the top anymore.”, after a reveal trailer that was, to be frank, over the top.

This. Like once you have super powers in 4, you didn’t even bother with the cars. They were just...there. It went from a gang warfare game to an early superhero game. And quite frankly, if I want to play a good superhero game, I’ll go fire up Spider-Man

Oddly salty about people disagreeing with what is essentially an opinion piece, I see. Cute.

Funny, my problem is that you clearly didn’t watch the game preview. If you think any of that wasn’t ridiculous and over the top, you are, frankly, blind. Your review is a bad take in that you seem to be describing something completely other than what was actually shown, probably for the sake of some clickbait ad

But Saints Row went completely arse over tit down the stairs trying to outdo its own ridiculousness. When you’re at an 11 the whole time, the 11 just starts feeling like a 1. SRIV started to get tiresome by the end of the opening sequence, and was solidly boring a few hours in as already having superpowers gave the

Scale does not increase silliness. I’m not sticking up for what seems like a real dose of fan service. I will say though that the drive toward hegemony is held off by fromsoftware, kojima, suda51 and various indie devs.

But why does it have outdo itself? THAT is what makes this take bad. Your take is “it’s either all or nothing”, and life is not that binary. There’s room for shades of gray. Maybe they pull back the throttle from SR4 and go to the sense of humor of 2 or 3. That can still be incredibly fun and silly and take the piss

You guys write intentionally inflammatory bullshit and get mad that once in a while the ratio of people who disagree to people who suck your dicks goes upside down lol

Im heartened by how many comments seem to find this to be a bad take.

Totally in agreement about white versus non-white, but men versus women. The baseline pool is pretty staggering (probably 4 or 5 men to 1 woman that gets a degree and actually enters the field) and the self-selecting subset of engineers that want to work in the incredibly specialized and grueling specialization of

I don’t see how anyone can play it and not notice or care how soulless and barren the experience is. There’s no real creativity or inspiration to be found because the mobile cash drain model has shown that people willing to spend the most money don’t notice such things.

BDO is universally criticized for it’s predatory monetization. Dozens of gaming forums and Youtube videos regularly condemn Kakao Games for prioritizing fixing issues with problems linked to the cash shop while ignoring in-game bugs for years. I’d rather wait 5+ years for CD Projekt Red to fix Cyberpunk than to

to be this stunningly stupid is an achievement, in a way

Weird how you wrote an article critiquing others’ egos yet the whole reason this article exists is because of your own obvious ego issues.

These arguments kinda fall flat because on a visceral level, it’s still “theft.” Just because you would have never bought a Ferarri doesn’t mean you should be able to take one and drive it around.
