I’m a little surprised I haven’t seen anyone mention what was my only quibble with the episode: in FIRST AVENGER, Rogers gets the treatment and then goes off and does all his fighting alone (supported by the Howlin’ Commandos).

Yeah, this is a reach.
Why not just name a date when it will be available to rent through all the normal channels? That would be nice to know.
The only part of that headline I don’t dislike is Luis Guzman getting work.
Honestly, I thought he dropped one at the start of THE DEPARTED when he was ragging on the firefighters.
Ah the old “they make more money than us so they don’t need ours” argument. Lazy and pathetic.
Isn’t “twink” a pejorative? Are we just using slurs in our headlines now? Or did the jargon change again...?
When the first trailer for this hit I was curious and got Sandcastle and OH MY GOD it was depressing and frequently disturbing...and I thought, no way they’ve made *this* into a film. Who would it satisfy?
Slow entertainment news week, hmm?
Yeah, Banderas could easily do the Winstone betrayal role.
Great cast! Bad film.
Louis-Dreyfus seems terribly miscast in that role. For me, her tone is jarring and doesn’t fit with the world and characters around her. She sounds like she needs a laugh track to accompany her quips.
Wealthy Celebrity Once Missed Out On Chance For Even More Money. Great story. Also, who gives a fuck.
Watched last night, and there are definite, gut-laugh-inducing high points. But what I admired most was the show’s ability to get huge laughs and still end scenes with characters in tears.
This felt like one of the clumsiest episodes yet. Great ideas, poorly handled and shot. 1 & 2 were solid. 3 & 4 were weirdly distracted from all the good in the first two. And this seemed to be getting back on track, but between some of the camera choices and the slack/perfunctory execution of intriguing stuff, it…
If it wasn’t for the occasional exclusive film project, I’d probably cancel Netflix out of the entire laundry list of streaming platforms I use. They just haven’t had much that I cared about for over a year...and I don’t get the country’s apparent interest in serial killer/real crime TV.
Aside from the fact that I found the episode kind of hollow and pointless (save for the intriguing detail about TVA staff), the thing that really stood out for me is what a bland character The Variant turned out to be.
As an epileptic cineaste who would love to enjoy these films, strobe effects are an immediate no-go. I know Wheatley’s has ‘em; does GAIA also?
Thank you!
What would be a good starting place if I were going to delve into Ito’s horror mangas?
