Weird that I just watched parts of WAITING again last night, and completely agree.

Reynolds’ career is definitely a mixed bag, but I feel like pre-DEADPOOL his best work was in the much-maligned SMOKIN’ ACES, a film I stand by to this day. He gets to be straight man, funny guy, action guy and also displays some impressive dramatic heft in the finale. But looking at his filmography I’m hard-pressed -

Was SotS Disney’s only questionable film? I’m old enough I should know the answer, but I’m also old enough that I’ve forgotten a lot of films.

I know getting cheeky with the police isn’t wise, but I wish he could have said “You need to speak with the owner” and then knocked on the door, gone inside, closed the door, opened the door, and said “can I help you officer?”

“Another is that they all seem like pricks.”

I raved over the story mode when the game came out. It was a genuinely great thing, in my opinion. When online came up, I quickly tired of it due to issues that have been belabored here and elsewhere; I haven’t played either version in over two months. And I don’t feel compelled to return.

I’m not even a ROMA devout, and I recognized that it made many of the other major Oscar contenders seem laughable by comparison. Love much of Spielberg’s work, but I guess it was about time for him to say something that made him seem out of touch.

She was good but her character definitely wasn’t given as much to do as a few others. And really, that season belonged to David Thewlis.

Well, she certainly does maniacal well, so sure, let her have it.

You sly boots you.

I would argue not a film: THE LEFTOVERS.

Well, Coon *is* the new Sigourney Weaver.

I don’t mind camerawork, but flashing lights give me a serious headache. I was really disappointed that INCREDIBLES 2 relied on strobes as a crucial plot point. As for Noe, I always want to enjoy his films, but rarely do. I hoped this might be The One.

“I regret that I...” is a very poor I’m sorry.

Any strobe effects? Because ENTER THE VOID was hard on this epileptic.

I’m seriously surprised by how many people don’t accept that these two performers are performing and giving damn fine performances. It’s like the people who watched DARK KNIGHT and immediately assumed Ledger wasn’t well. FFS, man, they act for their livings.

Naw, fuck that. My claustrophobia shot off the charts just looking at that, and I am sitting in a nice, open space.

I’m betting the split was wider than that, between more like five of the films, and GREEN BOOK squeaked through.

Since I chose the female Deputy for FC5, that ending had even worse connotations, and really soured me further on how that game was written.
