I am impressed by your speed of commitment and fortitude. :-)

“Nothing that I could articulate in a way that would be satisfying, or would help the film. I think it’s better to leave that to the viewer.”

Remarkable. This one was an absolute treasure.

I’ve followed Miike’s career closely from the very start. The films you mention are some of my favorites of his (granted, I don’t re-watch ICHI...). Some of his most intriguing works are his most challenging (I recommend VISITOR Q knowing that the vast majority of people will be put off by it, but it’s kinda genius).

I saw CH a year or two back after many years of assuming I would never watch it. It was, a few brief scenes aside (that I glanced down during, I don’t mind admitting), fairly tame. But I have no need to revisit it. As for the ones mentioned here, I think I’ve written them all off except for HOSTEL, which I saw once it

I felt the same way. Maybe some of these characters aren’t as smart as we were led to believe. Loved the show, not as wild about certain reactions within it. And I don’t care one bit if it’s slow, character-driven, at times deeply unsettling. It’s completely unique in the current field of shows. And that hair...nice

Or you could re-release the original in theaters for a limited run and probably make as much as you would without all the lost time and money spent on re-making it. Or you could come up with an original story idea.

Another great episode, though this is the first time watching season 2 that something stuck out for me as completely off: that whole “Welcome to Westworld” scene. A) Kind of shitty to have such gung-ho mercs and then have one drop his guard so easily at a crucial moment. (I was sure that when she turned to face him

A BETTER TOMORROW, ABT2, THE KILLER, BULLET IN THE HEAD, and HARD-BOILED make up one of the finest sets of films by a single director; they are consistent in their themes and tones, rollicking good entertainments, showcase a crew of actors who are immediately likable no matter what side of the fence they play, and

Just want to thank everyone on the deceleration clarification. I knew that, but it did feel like *every* recent scene of a ship moving was like this, and in retrospect I couldn’t imagine they were all “breaking” all the time. But I shall move on to further gushing about my love of the show and set aside my confusion.

Oh, man, that was amazing.

Just starting to watch this week’s episode and a question has bugged me since the season’s start: why do all the ships appear to be going in reverse?

I loved that Kerry was having none of Melanie’s shit. And then to have the most fun part of many a recent episode be Cary/Kerry’s excursion. It was a goddam delight.

Maeve saying goodbye to Team Shogun was an incredibly touching scene, and the best moment in the show second to the William/daughter scene. But I have to admit that the shogun showdown was surprisingly dull.

The direction is rarely what I’m focused on with a Bond film. The story, the villain, and how they treat the character of Bond (growth, development, or just how good that particular actor is) are. I don’t know that I’ve ever watched a Bond film and wondered “Did Martin Campbell direct this one?” (Note: Martin Campbell

I’m shocked that I’m as intrigued by SOLO as I am (seeing it tomorrow, and feeling pretty hopeful it will be a lot of fun), but a Boba Fett film feels like a reach...like a requirement of the money machine. At this rate I expect Ackbar, Mon Mothma, and Lobot prequels. And they all better be captivating.

Maybe I’m mis-remembering it, but I thought tales of Freeman being handsy were fairly common. I mean, it’s disappointing if true, but still...

I assumed what happened to the poor schmuck was that the ring halted his ship, and his body just got sloshed at the rate of speed he was going, not that the ring itself was necessarily harmful to organic matter. Still, I loved this episode: the immediate slamming forward...Avarasaralah temporarily in charge, “a few

As an old man who was very fond of Marvel Team-Up, it pains me to learn of Jean’s death. I always loved how that comic brought in tertiary (non-super) characters and let them breathe. As for DEADPOOL 2, the biggest laughs in my theater were for that closing time-travel stuff. Everyone loved that.

I bet you’re right.
