I really appreciate that we can all take something different from this show.
I really appreciate that we can all take something different from this show.
Though I side with Mickey, i agree with you that she was being rude to everyone in the room.
well, I can;t argue with people who say it's sad…
I think its a fair question. Perhaps his casting is a statement in itself?
I would like to think that he's there for a reason, rather than that Andy Dick is meant to lend some "celebrity cache".
That would just be sad.
I am SO GLAD that other people are seeing it this way!
I got really pissed with Gus!
Mickey's Meltdown was scary BUT Gus was totally insensitive to her needs; over and over again, she told him she was uncomfortable, cold, not having fun. And he tried to force her to "enjoy" it.
I like it better when I just watch one episode per day.
Or I let a few hours pass between.
I like this show and I appreciate that it doesn't let me feel just one thing, and gives me something to think about afterwards.
Gus doesn't think he's "doing the right thing"; he's KEEPING HIS JOB and TRYING TO PITCH HIS SCREENPLAY!
"Gus’ is probably the more interesting case because he’s unconsciously doing the wrong thing"
THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS, because I was wondering if I was being too critical, or looking for depth where I shouldn't.
Gus seems a more fully realized character, while Mickey seems to be str8 guys' fantasy of "A Cool Girl": Parliaments™, coffee, weed, and she tucks him in at the end.
I keep getting the sense that Mickey is more a man's fantasy of "Cool Girl" than a developed character. I'd love to be wrong, because I AM enjoying the show!
Also, lets be clear: Gus's "niceness" isn't nice; its MANIPULATION.
I watched the second episode, and I enjoyed it, but I find myself wondering if the show has any women writers or if I'm watching str8 white guys' idea of "Cool Girl".
This is gonna keep nagging at me.
I'll follow Jill Soloway & Kathryn Hahn anywhere
Its not that Gus is "too nice", its that his "niceness" is PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE MANIPULATION.
I watched the first episode; it was smarter than I expected, and Kerry Kenney made me Laugh Out Loud.
I'll keep watching.
TOTALLY WORTH IT, for me.
and I'm sure he must be taking a loss.
This is something I want to support, both in content and model.
He gets the genuine laugh lines!
Yes, I love LOUIE!
… but this feels more IMMEDIATE.
I was glad to see the return of The Girl at the bar (does her character have a name?), even if no one would let her speak her opinions!
