His regressions seem to suit whatever the plot calls for, rather than charting REAL GROWTH.

A lot of stories seem rushed this season.

So it was supposed to really BE a drunk squirrel?!?!!?

Too much character development for a non-character!
They should have just made him an undercover narc.

I took it this way, too…. Cruel and ironic because she was trying to escape her Mother's fate… and here it is, smack in the face.
But I CAN read it the other way as well, in that this symbol of what she's been trying to escape, the sewing machine, just MIGHT be her Path To Salvation.

… but I'm really excited to see a new combination of characters interact!

There is something "imprecise" about this season, as compared to previous ones.

I felt like I missed something.
We needed Poussey's drinking reiterated as an issue meriting Taystee's intervention this season for that to flow.
So what was that "squirrel" thing in the tree?
Was that supposed to read as an actual living squirrel?

I still don't understand that "squirrel" thing in the tree…..
