I feel the same about the Ferengi, despite also loving them as characters. 

I try not to join in on the “thing was bad all along” hype train, but JK sure doesn’t make it easy for herself. I think it’s fine to enjoy Harry Potter while also acknowledging all the issues with it. But really JK doesn’t need any more money or a platform for harming the trans community.

Goldstein and Cho are the model minorities in the bookish and smart Ravenclaw house. 

They could’ve done what LOTR did and just made them Scottish. Tolkein somewhat modeled the Dwarves as a Jewish allegory, though for his time he meant it as complementary and loudly rebuked Hitler.

And I was JUST about to remark that as the anniversary of 1/6 comes along I expected this past year to be a bit more unhinged than it’s been.

I am not at all comparing progressives to the Tea Party, the progressives are so much better than that. BUT. It took a few cycles for the tea party to have a significant voice in the GOP House, and it will likely be the same for the progressive wing.

Oh there are many, Tales From the Cantina and Tales From Jabba’s Palace. Not sure if they cover Rebo’s fate but I’d bet they do. 

Star Wars always was recycled crap.  And I still love it. 

Yeah, the movies somewhat treat them as savages and nothing more, so it was cool to see another side of them. I think the EU books went the same direction, getting into their warrior culture and the complex geopolitics with the settlers on Tattooine. They’re definitely mining some stuff from there.
