As someone who used to sell cars, I tell people all the time: To get the best deal, go to the dealer at the end of the month, the end of the (model) year and ESPECIALLY on a rainy day. No one goes car shopping in the rain - except you, and they will be desperate to get a sale that day.
The difference is not the in tools. It’s the creative vision and mastery of the tools, whatever they may be. A meh photographer is going to produce meh photos regardless of equipment. A good one is going to make beautiful art with a cardboard box with a pinhole in it and some film stuffed inside.
