This idea that “strict licensing requirements” is some magic solution only comes from people who don’t get it (and assume that it won’t prevent them from driving). Without viable public transportation, people have to drive. Whether they have a license or not is not really a factor in whether they will drive.

I wonder if it’s just “the police being jack-booted thugs with nothing better to do” type ticket?

I knew I should have added this strawman to my list because I’ve also heard this trite argument a thousand times. Knives are tools for more than just killing and have everyday uses. Knives are not as effective weapons as guns in the majority of situations. There’s a reason modern armed forces use guns as their primary

Yeh it’s pretty convoluted.  But hey, it’s great he had so much loving support growing up! He turned out to be a pretty good egg.

Our system is by far the best in the world, because everyone can compete equally“

...And yet it works a heck of a lot better than planned economies.

Define “planned economies.”

“Coded as queer” isn’t derogatory, it’s just a kind of shitty fact about most of the “classic” Disney villains*. Being coded as queer doesn’t have to mean that the character is bad; it just means that the character is recognizably queer to other queer people and other audience members who pick up on such things, but

Not the point. He’s framing this attack as a war on the LGBTQ community. Maybe rescinding that Reedy Creek situation was the right thing to do, but the fact that he chose to do it now means the decision was ENTIRELY partisan politics.

Monáe officially came out as pansexual in 2018, and during a recent interview with the LA Times, they said their pronouns are they/them and she/her.

Expertly presented this story in the clickbait-iest way possible. I’m almost impressed.

BUhhhh why do you use “they” to refer to a singular person! I’m so confused! I can’t figure out a single thing in this article! Is it even in English?!

Disney still pays a ton in property taxes, but pays for their own roads and infrastructure, and contracts with the local municipalities for things like police services. If this goes through, those local municipalities will have to provide all those services JUST for the property taxes. It would end up costing them
