Very nice. ;)

Well this isn't all that strange. The reason is that OEM need a little time to align their code with the new version of Android and then A LOT of time to do certification. The devs at Sony Ericsson have a pretty detailed post about it here:

Damn straight! The power of freedom is overwhelming. :)

Actually, the most amazing thing that apple did was to twist the arm of carriers. If the other vendors didn't have to do all the "per carrier modifications" in order to get a deal, they would have a lot easier time updating software and selling products.

I actually love having a SD card reader. I have the Sony S tablet and after taking pictures with my DSLR I just pop the memory card in the tablet and Bob's your uncle. Another great thing is that it works beautifully in "the field".

I think Motorola has a waterproof one and I know Sony Ericsson has the Xperia Active that can take video under water, or at least that's what the commercial shows.

Roberto, give 9mm a try on the Play. It's actually really nice to have real buttons. :)

The SE X Play does have shoulder buttons, but you are correct... it doesn't have 4, only 2. ;)

Interesting way of looking at it. I would still say that the appstore is different from a app repository. But it's more evolutionary than revolutionary perhaps. :)

Of course. If you want a slide out keyboard, you are free to choose that. If you want cheaper, smaller phone but that can still run most apps, you are free to choose that. If you want something that is waterproof, you are free to choose that. If you want a wicked good camera module... again you are free to choose

The basic idea of android is freedom. "Every app is created equal", which enables stuff like launchers and so forth. There is no "lock-down" like saying that certain technology isn't allowed on a phone. Granted, not every app is great nor free and vendors can choose to fuck it up just as much as they want... but none

Are you kidding me? Not only is the Xperia arc the sexiest smartphone ever made, the entire 2011 xperia range is very nice indeed. The UI is smooth and unhindered, not too much branding. SE is more open than any other Android vendor. Techradar had the arc as the best smartphone, well atleast until SGSII came out. :)

Well, for all those arguing that Android stole the ideas from ios, you can just as easily argue that ios stole from Symbian, Windows phone and gestures from Neonode.

The power of freedom is amazing! :)

From what I hear all the Xperia phones from SE are also free from CIQ. Check the threads on XDA for people testing them, it's ofcourse not impossible that some carrier managed to get it on.

Love SE :)

Very good argument. If you look at phones from Samsung, you could argue that you simply group them all together and call them touchwiz phones. Big S differentiates with a lot of different models, whereas apple has different memory sizes for their model.

Very interesting. It's kinda hard to argue grammar with Merriam-Webster. :)

That's absolutely true, to have a really fair comparison it should be about amount of meters driven per year, versus the length of the road network. Perhaps it's due to people using public transport or travelling shorter distances.

It's great men that acknowledge their errors. ;) It's why I always start most of my statements with "If I'm not mistaken".
