They sell cans of textured paint individually. Is that the stuff you're talking about?

brodiemac, why not have him remove the layers of paneling before putting up drywall? I like to get all that nonsense out of there.
GREAT suggestion on taking a course, SwissSannetje. I used to do some rock climbing in college, and know all too well the perils of sewing machine leg.
Foster and Hillis, hands down for this week.
I've been dating the same woman now for a couple months. Things are fantastic, and we've been having tons of fun. Fortunately, we haven't lacked in fun options/concerts/festivals to go to this summer. Aside from the stand-bys (dinner in/out, movie, theater), what are some good cold-weather dates to start planning?
This isn't a question, but I really want to promote the use of your local dog walker and/or dog daycare. jenawithonen and I have been having a crating discussion, and anti-crate people's core argument boils down to a very real and reasonable concern - activity level. My dogs go to daycare once a week, and I wish it…
That certainly works (obviously). For those who either don't have a convenient setup like that (my kitchen would be impossible to gate off) or simply can't leave a chew-aggressive dog out in the house alone, a crate is an excellent option. I understand the initial, visceral opposition to "keeping him locked up for…
That's absolutely where puppies live most of the day. They sleep close to 18 hours a day - and that's where they sleep. And before they're housebroken, that's where they should be when you're at work. Both my dogs are now free-range in the house, and they simply don't have accidents. But they're 50 lbs. each, with the…
Also, cats are - by and large - a-holes. It's their nature to find out what borderline-normal activity really annoys you.
Yup - a few people have mentioned that you have to pay attention. Dogs will do their best to train you as well, once they figure out that you're the gatekeeper to the wonderful world of peeing on things. Each of my dogs has specific behavior that they exhibit when they need to go out, and it's subtle to the untrained…
A former roommate of mine was allergic to my dog. The roommate went in for allergy shots every 6 months, and they helped tremendously.
The easy and obvious answer is crate training, combined with a ridiculous amount of positive reinforcement. Make sure your crate is appropriately sized (for a puppy, that may mean reducing the size by up to 2/3 the size of the crate - many come with a metal wire divider for this purpose). And when you take him outside…
Very cool - thank you for that link. Any other good places to go to see what's going on? For instance, what is that wedge-shaped structure sort of between the two footprint memorials?
And it's not even typographical this time. Jesus Diaz has, once again, managed to publish seriously misleading and absolutely wrong information again, all in the hopes of catching our attention. It's shameful.
I like to make it a game, and try to guess who the author is based on the number and severity of the errors it contains. Sadly, Mr. Diaz seems to always be in the lead.
Can I ask why that surprises you? Look at the picture - the vector for that rocket isn't anywhere near the skydivers. What surprises me is that there aren't MORE planes/skydivers around to watch. At that altitude, even the typical 40-mile radius no-fly zone gives you a good view.
Jimmy John's has clearly partnered up with them.
For shoes, Nordstrom's is pretty hard to beat. They'll fix or replace pretty much anything at any time. They're more expensive, but their quality is always high-end - and combined with a long-term commitment to their products, are hard to beat (especially if you wait for one of their bi-yearly sales).
Either Giz or Lifehacker had an article on how to download old episodes of TAL - but if that's a pain, they have an app for like $4 that gives you access to every single one ever. It's worth it.
