You just summed up Philly. We’re assholes but with our hearts in the right place.

What a bunch of assholes, God Bless’em

In the Deep South, where I live, Catholic churches can have a pretty Baptist/evangelical cast in the aesthetic sense, singing “praise songs” and being charismatic, having people “get the spirit” and roll around on the floor, and even, god forbid, getting on board with that purity crap. But even so I don’t think any

I’m 99% sure the commenter did not attend a catholic school, and is confusing two different school organizations that use the acronym ACE. There’s the ACE that’s the Alliance for Catholic Education and the ACE that stands for Accelerated Christian Education. The former is just a normal Catholic school group and the

WHAT? Look, I’m not going to defend the Catholic Church on a lot of their insanity- I’m not practicing anymore- but that is false. American Catholics, by and large, bear little resemblance to evangelicals. We believe in science, ffs, and I’ve never had a Catholic knock on my door to get me to come to church.

The kind of ACE school you went to is not the same as the kind of school from this news story. I’m pretty sure your ACE refers to a school with Accelerated Christian Education curriculum, which is steeped in Biblical literalism and favored by Cindy homeschoolers, but the ACE this news story refers to is the Alliance

This is not mainstream Catholic, like a school run by the diocese. And certainly not academically rigorous like a Jesuit or Marist brothers schools. This is part of a far right Catholic fringe (think Santorum, not Pope Francis).

I don’t think ACE= Catholic. According to wikipedia it stands for Accelerated Christian Education, and nothing in wiki article mentions Catholicism or jives with my own experience with a Catholic schooling. Apparently one of the key tenants is to teach that everything in the Bible is literally true which is not in

Catholicism is cool with evolution, an ancient Earth and the Big Bang.

Wait, really? Was it a Catholic school? I thought the church had finally accepted evolution and the fact that the earth is actually really old.

Ok let me go back and do some scientific to scale measuring for you. I wasn’t being literal.

I know I’m not supposed to body shame but some of those girls looked deathly sick. Like a leg is not supposed to be three inch circumference.

Yep, my 16 year old sister confirmed that this is because they are hyper aware of their online presence and want to be in control of it. It’s also a signal to your friends not to tag you either, which I get but...why are you posing for a picture in the first place? Why not just decline the photographer or turn your

I personally wouldn’t take that bet. This actually is my only regret over the “women’s march”. It’s billed as inclusive, but only to a point, excluding views they don’t deem legitimate.

Fun fact: Fred Armisen did his pitch-perfect Penny Marshall impression for this memoir’s official book trailer. In it, Penny answers a phone call from Carrie.

Seriously, I get wanting your offspring to be unique. But I’ll remember a Mike who invents a cure for AIDS faster than I will a Balthazar who makes craft cocktails based on moon phases.

Balthazar? Axel? Afton? That’s quite enough now, please stop.

What if your nephew was like, “I’m not sure I’m even gonna vote. These people are both bad” on election day. But then the day after the election he wrote a blog on deadspin about how we’re all fucked because Trump won? What should I say to this specific type of shithead nephew?

Depends on who you voted for. I voted Hillary and actually enjoyed this article, even if it’s not satirical. It’s a good balance to this site and all of the other Post-Gawker sites.
