the minimum wage workers i know have always had 2-3 jobs and worked more like 50-60 hours a week — still no benefits, but enough income to keep their head above water.

“average” monthly rent in my city for a 2-bedroom apartment is “average” monthly income in most other parts of the country. no person can afford to live here even on $15/hour.
