The irony is rich. White people throwing criticism of white privilege at a Whiteness deconstruction project without looking into it...white privilege much? And I really can go the rest of my life without hearing “problematic” again. Just say what is problematic about the thing you are talking about. It will help us

The name is just a straightforward description of it. There’s nothing wrong with the name (even if white people do tend to freak the fuck out when people propose to critically examine whiteness).

I don’t even get why they’re upset about the name, though!

It’s visible support *that is getting covered*. The whole skyline has been lit up in rainbows in support over the last few weeks, so it’s not ONLY this one specifically.

You obviously don’t get it. They didn’t choose the right name for their project, therefor it’s the stupidest idea since coats for dogs. It’s not like what they’re actually doing is important or anything.

Yeah, I don’t see why an initiative to examine and deconstruct privilege is a bad thing! It is also interesting to explore the history of the concept of whiteness and how it is applied to certain ethnic groups over time. “Whiteness History Month” is certainly a little clunky, but it’s also clearly drawing attention,

I want someone to graffiti “your bigot’s” on it.

WHITE’S ONLY WHAT???

Wait, what? Isn’t a project to analyze the meaning of “whiteness” and its history a pretty obviously good idea? I expect to see people upset about that at the Daily Caller, not here.

I’m a reporter in NC who interviewed a handful of state legislators about their support / non support of HB2. Hearing several different people give the exact same (I mean literally the exact same) quotes about protecting families and cities (i.e. Charlotte) “overstepping their boundaries” really is a glimpse into how

That’s a really good idea, because there is of course more to privilege than just whiteness. It would be great if they’d created a conversation where people could discuss cis and gender privilege, language/literacy privilege, economics etc.....oh well its a start :/

But isn’t using the “history month” moniker kind of their point? Like it seems as though they were riffing on the assholes who are always like “why isn’t there White History Month?” or whatever. The project seems problematic to say the least, but I think they knew exactly what they were doing when they called it

I think it’s hilarious that you are sad for an 84 year old white man, because his legacy is being tarnished, when the whole point is that women don’t get a legacy at all, and are essentially dead to the world even while they are alive.

Where in this piece did the author say Talese should be dis-credited for his early work? In fact she does the opposite, she gives him his due. Does this make him above criticism.

I think I’m doing ok! But thanks!

I also can't name a single female writer that inspires me. I can't name a male writer who inspires we either. I am a sentient hunk of cheese that someone plugged directly into the Internet. I am inspired by mold and bacteria.

She has a production company, and she has been in quite a few movies since Riding in cars with Boys. Like so many. ...

This is where I think there’s a miscommunication. The sitters seem to assume “standing” means being completely upright (like whatever that above-the-stall writer was talking about). But what “standers” actually mean, I assume, is going up onto your legs but you’re still completely bent over. This puts your ass in

You stay at a crouch. It’s almost a squat but slightly up so your butt is hovering in the air above the bowl. I don’t know why anyone would stand completely up, pushing their buns together. That doesn’t seem sanitary. Then again neither does remaining seated.

Stand to wipe in my home bathroom. Stay seated in public stalls.
