No one thought they were risking their life to live here. Sure, the crime in cities is usually higher, but my partner didn’t think she was risking her life to go fucking dance. She didn’t even know what ghostship was, she was meeting a friend who was taking her.

I want to tell all of the families that I am so, so deeply sorry for these needless anguish we’re all going through. I lost my dearest best friend and former partner of 7 years. We live in the Bella Vista neighborhood, which isn’t too far from where the warehouse was. I just can’t believe it.

My partner was trans and she died. Em Bohlka. I’ve been talking to as much press as possible to share her story, but mostly to make sure she was correctly gendered with the right name. I have to say that every publication she’s been profiled in has used the correct pronouns and name and I am so thankful that it is one

I don’t think anyone is saying that they should be ‘automatically taken care of’. With housing and rental cost of everything in the bay, there are few ways (in my understanding) to have events like this without have a ton of money. Few activists and artists, especially in this scene, have that kind of money.
