This is a really reductive take on this, which is par for the course at the moment with Kotaku. Just a hot take that glances over the issue and panders to nothing and no one in particular.

“spend millions on exclusivity deals for EGS, resulting in a better world for PC gamers used to having consumer choice

The people left are willingly working for Spanfeller what do you expect? This is the TMZ of woke culture game news. I still go here every day like receding back into an abusive relationship.

Ah, there’s the New Kotaku Tone I mentioned a few weeks ago that I got ripped for.

I blew through it in about 45 minutes, this is making a mountain out of a mole hill, as per usual Kotaku has to complain about something beyond trivial.

Huh. Weird. I’ve played these games since the first one and I enjoyed it as an opener. I thought there were some cool set pieces and I enjoyed the little touches like the constantly babbling grunts. Different strokes, I suppose. Hope you enjoy the rest of it!

I really enjoyed this game’s story. For all the jokes about it being knock-off brand Avengers, it really did a good job of making the characters its own and coming up with a novel take on the universe.

jfc that’s a clickbaity headline.

Right? So many of these things boil down to “I picked a fight with you expecting to win, and instead you have a good point and I do not have the tools to accept that, SO STOP MAKING ME FEEL BAD.” Even if you can get past the built-in contempt for other people, it’s just so fucking childish and entitled.

I don’t know if you watched the special. I really don’t think you did.

Did you watch it? He defended trans MULTIPLE times during that and other specials. All jokes are at the expense of someone or some thing. His weren’t dark. Why can the trans community attack those they don’t agree with while at the same time complaining about being attacked.

That’s crazy, because the three people I played with, all of whom were die hard Halo fans, all said it just didn’t feel like Halo to them, and I completely agreed.

To be honest I don’t really understand the facination with open-world games. Sure, there are some REALLY fun ones out there, but it also feels like it’s one of those words that makes people instantly froth at the mouth and slap the ‘masterpiece’ stamp on games instantly.

How to know you’re an Old: You still considered Nintendo Directs “a new thing” until seeing this headline...

No, what’s ridiculous is claiming a game’s ludonarrative dissonance bothered you so much and made you feel so uncomfortable that you felt you had to stop playing it.

OK, maybe a bit hyperbolic here? Came in expecting something actually bad, and it’s fine. Not something I’d download and listen to, but definitely not something I’d leap to change the station for. It also doesn’t fall into the cover pitfall of regurgitating the original song back to me, so even better in my eyes.

The song really isn’t that bad. I was expecting/hoping for something a lot worse.

I... I kinda love it?

I kinda like it.

Except he does. This complaint is stupid. He's a massive geek who's also known to be into gaming. Hell, he's even done a couple voices, voicing a character in Halo: Reach and Fallout: New Vegas. He's pretty much a perfect choice.
