I know!!! thank god someone else loved that sketch too. that "I miss my uncle Charles, y'all" line was one of the standout parts of Crossroads, which I've probably heard over a hundred times in my life. ditto "First of the Month." the unexpectedness of even seeing Bone Thugz referenced in a sketch show was already

there were definitely references to Lost, though—the music in the beginning, the word "walkabout," the temple with the floor Kenny falls through…

there are probably a lot of things going on in that sketch, but my husband pointed out that evoked the phenomenon where there's a rap song you really like, but one of the guest verses is comparatively terrible/offensive/stupid/whatever. & it's pretty impressive for a sketch to bring something that specific to mind.

um, yeah, "it's hard to outright hate Key & Peele." first of all, "outright hate" is a bit of a strong response for a sketch comedy show, even one that wasn't funny—but, more importantly, Key & Peele is GREAT. I agree that this episode was a little more disjointed than previous ones, but it still made me laugh out

&, as much as I love Demetri Martin (& enjoyed his show), K&P is wayyyyy better.

I know—but yet it earns Louie another chance! & I think that actually makes sense, because it demonstrated that he was really willing to work for the opportunity. as stupid (& painfully unfunny except in a meta way) as his little performance was, it proved that he was capable of pushing past his negative emotional

here's my Lewis Black story: the other day, during a Back in Black segment on the Daily Show, my husband got up from the couch, which somehow managed to wedge the remote between the cushions in such a way that the volume button got stuck on "up." all of a sudden Lewis kept getting louder & louder & LOUDER while I was

my desktop from college was felled by a lyrics-website virus. the song I was researching? "Laffy Taffy" by D4L. such an ignoble fate.

I also appreciated this exchange, after they came up with the plan to pay for Ders's tuition with party money: "like in Van Wilder?" "yeah, like in a lot of movies!"
