I enjoyed it. It’s yet another apocalypse show, but its quite funny at times and the writers/directors made a genuine attempt to be innovative and sometimes pulled it off.

Hart asking “hate what?” and “why?” legitimately had me thinking this was some sort of skit for a minute.

I don’t disagree with a lot of that 13 Reasons write-up, but eulogising of Euphoria seems a little strange, especially given both shows essentially romanticise psychopaths - and without them, they become style over substance (and Euphoria has style!).

The first season was really slow and dull. I didn’t end up finishing it, so it may have peaked towards the end. I feel like horror has had a great resurgence in the last few years, especially with books and film, so I’m not sure why this one was such a miss for me.

Give it some time. They literally just bought Fox. It takes a while to consolidate everything.

They’re following Amazon’s strategy of spending big to establish themselves as a monopoly in their field. The competitors caught up to Amazon far too late. Even with Disney and others now chasing Netflix, I think the comparison remains.

I’m just trying to imagine how fans would have reacted to this news if this film was anything with a female lead(s) instead and still comic book related.

As more time passes, I’m realising how forgettable and overrated this series was. Probably won’t check out the next entry, given this one got good but undeserving reviews.

Both PEN15 and Plus One are terrific. Maya brought so much energy and charm to the typical rom-com format in Plus One and elevated it into a memorable and fast-moving ride.

The Bold Type & Good Trouble are excellent shows. They’re basically Hulu shows but under the Freeform brand and have thankfully benefited from streaming deals with Hulu.

You don’t need to watch The Defenders at all (but if you did, it would be after Season 2 of JJ). Season 2 of JJ was pretty insular and mostly just references S1 with flashbacks of Kilgrave. I loved it, even though a lot of people felt it was messy.

Ooof @ that last line’s pun.

Why would you go and mention Skam and make me miss that show all over again? That show was Tumblr’s best export, tbh.

Agreed. Better to just rewatch Death Note or one of the Fullmetals for this sort of thing done in a non-irritating way.

I think it’s just Netflix being aggressive as hell, tbh. It’s either Disney or Netflix nowadays anyway, and they borrow a lot from one another (+ basically have similar messaging / programming, which makes you wonder...).

Bet she will soon if Netflix doesn’t keep her. ABC/Disney have kept her around with Fresh Off The Boat (as a writer) and American Housewife (as an actor) but Netflix acted quicker and gave her specials which led to a movie and TV show (Tuca and Bertie), so we’ll see what happens next.

It was a “hit” for CW status, averaging around 0.4 for its first season in the main demo, which is still pretty minimal when compared to other networks.

Nice piece. Only thing I’d add is that I think you’re understating Centineo’s effect. I’ve been following him since he was cast in The Fosters and it was bewildering to watch his follower count jump from a few hundred thousand to a literal few million in a few days. That didn’t happen to the other stars.

Erin Richards gave hints of the soon-to-be psychotic Barbara in Season 1, also. I don’t think I’d have stuck with the show if it weren’t for her and Robin (and perhaps Jada Pinkett-Smith as Fish). I’m glad I did, though.

It’s a really good album. 6.5 isn’t a good look from a fairly well known publication. They should do better.
