i’m canadian and i’ve never heard anyone call canada a melting pot, i’ve only ever heard that phrase used about america. we are multicultural, not one patriotic culture that everyone must assimilate into.

A great description of the cultural mosaic that is our home and native land. But remember that “all” of us are not immigrants. Our Indigenous population gets (once again) ignored and kept out of the picture when we say “all Canadians came here from somewhere else”.

I think schools have moved away from teaching the “melting pot” concept. I distinctly remember some young person around me talking about the “salad bowl.” In the salad bowl, each ingredient maintains its individuality while contributing to a greater overall dish.

As a Canadian, he’s a Liberal first. Which means he campaigns from the left and then proceeds to break most of those promises, moving him to the more typical lying Liberal center.

It’s all relative. As a progressive who spends time in both the U.S. and Canada, I find myself frustrated daily at Trudeau (for dragging his feet on First Nations issues, for approving pipelines that will endanger some of the most pristine and valuable land and waterways in the country, for completely reversing…

He mostly sucks. He’s a PR politician if there ever was one. But you don’t have to be that good to look good next to Trump.

I’m Canadian (Montreal). From my perspective, he’s more centre than left. I think he’s good, but he could be better.
