*whoooooosh*

The sound of you (apparently) completely missing the point of Ronan’s book.

Dear lord, what is the context for the picture accompanying this article??? Stuff of nightmares...

Came here to post this sentiment. Taking a picture of a minor’s posterior and sharing it electronically could EASILY be grounds for arrest. You could argue context all you want, if a prosecutor wanted to make charges stick, they’d probably be able to make them stick. “But, officer, I was just sharing this picture to

This “I play X sport” was a commonly used ploy. Usually an administrator in the A.D. is in on the plot and uses one of their chits to just get the kid in. The academic side of things often don’t have much of a say or clue about what’s going on with these kinds of kids. It’s a pretty big gray area that this guy

I hope they let him race at the Tokyo Olympics and continue talking shit to people who can’t beat him.”

I’m old. I’ve been following the men’s and women’s game in America since the 80s. I’m old enough to have been pretty active on message boards talking about WUSA after the ‘99 team burst onto the national stage. To be honest, there was a bit of hubris and an NASL oversell and cockiness about that league. What I think

*Checks area where he currently lives and commutes* Yep, we’re still one of the worst!

I think what folks are missing, and it’s nuanced, so bear with me: When Trump is reading from a prompter (as opposed to his ridiculous rallies), that was put on paper by a speech writer. Not only did he talk about airports, he also went on a meander re: Fort McHenry and the Star Spangled Banner. Anyone with a sliver

And the actual English team on the field spent almost EVERY play complaining to the refs. It was driving me crazy.

Ok, I see it now. To me, what would help is resorts setting up areas to strap up and being more proactive about it. On the east coast, where there simply fewer lifts and runs, it can really screw up the experience because they have to stop the lifts because people are falling all over themselves exiting the lift.

First off, holy fuck is this article long. Secondly, I skimmed the hell out of it, so I may have missed the one complaint I have about snowboarders that I think is valid: They ALWAYS have to sit down after they get off a lift to hook into their bindings. And depending on the terrain/layout, they often set up shop in a

While I don’t have a big problem with the idea, I’ll say this: A lot of high school soccer leagues have a 2 ref system (no center, and no linesman/ARs.) It is the absolute worst, because they position themselves on opposite ends of the field and the just flat out miss shit that happens farther away. (A huge part of

This is the right take. I played the position for a loooong time, and while I would always try to get an edge, I knew I couldn’t do what players are getting away with now because I had refs call a few back. They’ve almost completely stopped doing it and this is a pretty necessary move. I agree with the premise that it

Just going to disagree with the premise that this wasn’t something that needed to be addressed. I’m a former GK and I coach the position, if you step forward a yard or even just half a yard, and then lay out for a dive, you are covering a LOT more ground. I teach this to my goalies when we’re talking about shutting

They already do this. The linesman or Assistant Referee in today’s parlance, is supposed to be watching for it.

Just like in other sports that use VAR, the head referee is always the one “on the phone to Toronto” or Jersey or wherever HQ  is... My understanding is that the intention is to ensure all of the “on-field” information is taken into account, which of course isn’t possible if you’re sitting in a monitor-filled room

I absolutely agree with the main point of the article, which is that these rule changes should’ve been implemented after the summer tournaments. Good stuff there.

I just don’t agree, however, that the rule changes are necessarily bad. I went off in the comments on the PK article... Which laughably uses Brianna Scurry

YEP! It’s also really annoying to keep reading that goalies can’t move prior to the kick. This is 100 percent false. You can move laterally all you want. You are guessing (educated, based on the run-up, hips, foot placement and in some cases scouting report), so moving and/or faking a move laterally is well within the

It’s also fucking ridiculous to have my shit in the greys after visiting this site and posting responsibly for however many damn years this site has been around.

I’m not reading past the point where you bring up Brianna Scurry. I played the position at a pretty high level (collegiate back in pre-MLS, USL, PDL, etc days) and I’m a gk trainer in my non-full time job hours. What Scurry did was absolutely against the intention of the rules. Here’s where you are just fundamentally
