It's appalling that so many people here are defending this shitbird and her awful behavior, and reading this makes it even worse.

The principal at my kids' school insists that all notes home get vetted by her. Until reading this, I thought that was a bit control-freaky. Now it makes sense.

I wondered if she might be that way too. I have an ex friend who scrubbed her baby down twice a day and he had horrible eczema. I told her that kids with eczema can't be bathed daily, and she lied and said her doctor told her it was best. This is the person who takes two showers a day and uses antibacterial hand soap

Really? Do we really reasonably think that this is class-wide issue? Most of the parents aren't having their kids brush their teeth and just let them stay covered in shit all the time? I highly doubt it. There will always be one or two kids who are poorly cared for and whose parenting situation is a concern. That is

I highly doubt the majority of the class is coming in having freshly shat themselves, to the point where an en masse letter had to be sent out. She seems more concerned with them being "unkempt". She is probably an older lady with rigid 50s style standards of presentation and neatness.

I love how everyone defending this teacher's actions seems to think that it's an either/or situation. Nasty letter or (insert equally shitty solution). As if there is no way to address this without being a total asshole about it. I teach Pre-K, and am familiar with the concept of smelly children. What this teacher did

Prekindergarten? I don't think it's physically possible for kids at that age to stink so much you can't bear to be near them. Unless they rolled in dead skunk or something.

I'm all for informing the parent, but my sister is a teacher, and they are trained in college not to do things like this. That note was far too curt to send home as is. If she was having that much of an issue with the smelly kids in class she surely could have thought of a better way to word what she wanted to get
