Back then all of the banners looked more or less the same - they had tiny notations underneath them that were legible but not prominent. They also hung banners for finishing #1 in the polls at the end of the regular season. Everyone inflates their successes to some degree.

But they did. The shirts may have talked about NCAA titles, which would exclude 1924. But there was a 1924 banner up when I was at UNC in the mid-1990s. They made the national championship banners more prominent recently but the Helms Foundation championship banner has been around for years.

Not quite. We have claimed the 1924 title for years. That was nothing new and it was recognized before Coach K started racking up anything in Durham. UNC redesigned the banners a few years ago (since I graduated, anyway) but that claim is old news.
