I've always associated that type of short with The Kentucky Fried Movie. "Zinc Oxide and You".

A life without sunshine.
All I need is a knife.
Cubs-era Harry was but a wispy shadow of Cardinals-era Harry. I never "got" why he was such a legend until I discovered old tapes of his '60s broadcasts on KMOX.
Never heard Coleman do Padres games, but for a while in the '90s he and John Rooney (longtime Chisox radio guy, now with the Cardinals) did the Sunday night games together for CBS Radio. I always thought they were terrific.
And Special Agent Doggett is named for Jerry Doggett, who was Scully's fellow Dodgers announcer for some 30 years.
I think it goes back to the quasi-militaristic bullshit somebody mentioned upthread. It's a part of football culture that's always put me off on the sport.
I don't think it's an accident that most of the great baseball announcers (Scully, Barber, Allen, Caray, Buck, Harwell, Kalas, Carneal, Niehaus, Miller, etc.) were primarily radio guys for the bulk of their careers. The medium by its very nature makes the best use of good play-by-play and storytelling skills, and…
Every year they insist on letting Berman do *radio* play-by-play for one of baseball's divisional playoff series, a role he has absolutely no fucking business even attempting to perform. Just awful.
Enberg also did Angels games in the '70s with Dave Niehaus (later the voice of the Mariners) and Don Drysdale.
