You compare trucks to current tractors which have one purpose; people don’t buy trucks solely for towing. How’s bullet point 1 working for Honda? Bullet 2 doesn’t work for off road. Bullet 4 would reduce interior space and/or bed size, neither of which are wanted.

Neutral: how has nobody mentioned the Cybertruck? Sure it doesn’t exist yet, but just look at it.

There is no way for me to stress sufficiently just how ugly the current Chevy Silverado is.

I’m convinced its as simple as trucks don’t make sense in Brooklyn (to them) so they don’t make sense anywhere.

1st Gear: We get it. Jalopnik hates the current Silverado, hates big pickup trucks, doesn’t much like the people who buy them, and doesn’t like US automakers either.

I agree. In fact most of that era was full of ugly “jellybean” cars and trucks. The Taurus, Mustang, Chevy Lumina, etc etc... all looked like cheap plastic toys due to their lozenge like shape

The GMs are only face-meltingly hideous in certain trims. You can do a decent job hiding the face with the right options and color selection.

While I see the Silverado as being overly aggressive to the point of looking cartoonish, the Ram is just ugly.

Also, based on the unfortunate bumper stickers that seem to disproportionately afflict Rams where I live, I sure AF don’t wan to be a “Ram guy”.

2nd gear: People are coming out from isolation so of course cases are going to go up. Places like CA are going up too and they locked down plenty early and are wearing masks and following all the rules.
