GMG: willing to bitch about everyone else’s money
Welcome to Jalopnik, where the proliferation of people moving about the world is seen as a very very bad thing.
Reliable transportation that does everything I need for 200K+ miles and doesn’t need to be babied like my Lotus was = the horror!
4th gear: Yeah.... no. The minute states lift restrictions, those airline tickets will be bought up. People have short memories and they’ll be back to coughing on planes in no time.
“We in America are clinging to our pickups like talismans of brighter days, and I hope that goes away as soon as possible.”
I both suspect and hope we will never return to the days of dumping airplane exhaust into the atmosphere like we have over the past few decades, no matter how much time I spent staring at $50 cross-country flights the other week.
Agreed, the truck is fast and torquey enough already. Only the gearheads would value this BHP bump enough to pay extra on a 17-20 mpg rig.
I really don’t think it’s all that “silly” of Ford to offer the 4-cylinder on the Ranger. First of all, the twin-turbski EcoBoosts are excellent engines when it comes to performance per displacement ratio. The 1.0 liter one was the engine of the year not that long ago. Secondly, the 2.7 EcoBoost has been installed in…
This was my reaction as well after reading 5th. I think it means the better business decision model gets to stay instead of a sports car.
It probably means Justin doesn’t like trucks and big SUVs, or, more accurately, he can’t relate to or understand people who like trucks and big SUVs. I don’t drive them either anymore, but, I totally get why their popular.
“Sorry to inform you that America’s fabricated “dependence” on utility vehicles...”
What does this mean?
When you move out of California, I reckon.
Sorry, not buying it. This was likely the safest time this could have been done. As you said, hardly anyone is on the road. I’m not buying the Alex Roy argument either, “They could have hit a truck carrying precious medical supplies”. Well, yeah but I’ll bet that’s statistically pretty low. I think most of the…
“If literally one thing goes wrong—if the team needs to call for help or a tow truck, if they get stopped, if they crash—literally anything goes wrong here and these guys would be pulling resources from an otherwise already overloaded system, not to mention potentially increasing the risk of contracting coronavirus by…
Agree! There is really no good reason, that I have found, for a truck/SUV to have a console mounted shifter. But all the bloggers here will drone on and on about how dated and stupid that is. I’m welcome to hear other opinions, but I just prefer the simple column shift lever.
Why is a console shifter desirable?
Hell yeah. Bar PM and Bash’s were the shit, although it always felt like you’d catch cancer from just being near Bash’s. Had badass games though
Thankfully I wasn’t the only one that had that thought
but the capabilities for the price are pretty impressive
I take it you’ve never bought a truck then. Most trucks are sold about 10k under MSRP especially at the high end. For example, a few years ago my dad bought a new 2018 f150 stx crew cab with the fx4 package, a bed liner, running boards, and a few other options thrown in. Out the door the price came to 34k but if you…
