@RecipeForHate: I think it would be possible. You are right that distinct plant types are almost impossible to identify, but potted plants can be found easily. It is just a simple rewrite of the software google uses to blank out faces.

I do not see how this is making a mountain out of a molehill. There is a difference between photographing a house from the outside and capturing wifi details. Many people will not mind their house being online in such a harmless fashion, but greatly object to their wifi being recorded by google.
