I forgot about that. It was great, and realistic. The only drama that came from it was the woman’s best friend not being there for her.

The morning after pill uses levonorgestrel, a common component in oral contraceptives. There is ambiguity as to how levonorgestrel works. Studies strongly indicate that it allows an egg to be fertilized, but not implant, but it isn’t certain that it even allows fertilization.
The most accurate portrayal I have seen of an abortion was in last season’s Brockmire. The people are complete screw ups who know that they have no business raising a baby. They have to drive three hours to get a medical abortion, and the only issue is that she can’t swallow pills (so comedy ensues). No regrets, no…
The Babadook is so overrated. Watch Under the Shadow instead. It has the same themes, but it is much better executed and actually suspenseful.
This would be perfect in a TBS lineup paired with something like People of Earth.
Edit: started working there. Blerg.
I forget if I gave up completely during the fourth or fifth season, but I had no interest by the time the sixth season rolled around. I prefer to remember the show as the first three seasons (especially the first).
Community was amazing for the first couple seasons, but it also couldn’t sustain itself. Not because of the number of years (I have known people who dragged out community college for over a decade), but because the show became to self-aware and became all about being meta.
One of the things that floored me about this guy was that some of the same women who warned be about him when I stopped working here were angry at me for reporting him and getting him in trouble.
I stopped watching this show regularly a few years ago when it became obvious that it had run its course and the writers didn’t know what to do with the kids now that they were grown up. Last night’s episode might be only one I have seen this season, and it reminded me why I didn’t watch the show any more.
She was great. She also had a cameo on “I Love Lucy” and it made me wonder if the two women became friends while working on Stage Door.
I love that movie, and it is amazing how much Ball and Arden (especially Arden) steal the scenes. It is so great to see a movie from that era where the women aren’t sweet, gullible ingenues who meet wealthy Prince Charmings, but instead are smart and witty and understand that the world is going to treat them like dirt…
I agree. And I have to wonder how long they can keep the premise up. There has been some handwaving about why the students don’t report what is going on, but every parent I know who has kids in AP classes knows how much they study and what they are doing in class (apathetic parents don’t have kids in advanced…
If we had a functioning government, Department of Labor or even the Justice Department (a lot of the sexual harassment is technically considered a civil rights violation) they would investigate the companies. But no, regulations and government are evil.
As someone who works in corporate America, none of this is surprising. I have seen men far less powerful and profitable than Matt Lauer be protected. I can think of a recently retired employee here who had countless problems working with women—not sexual harassment but losing his temper, treating us like we were…
I don’t know what it is about, but that is fantastic casting. Take my money!
Yep. Most of Europe doesn’t recognize PINs that start with 0, and American cards allow it, so Americans often end up using signatures.
Nothing is as slippery as the floor of a fast food kitchen, especially if they just sprayed degreaser. I fell a few times at KFC.
You using that meat slicer might not have been legal. When I worked in a supermarket, they wouldn’t let anyone under 18 work in the deli because of the meat slicer. My 19 year old self still managed to slice the tips of my fingers on the bread slicer, though.
I wasn’t taught how to use power tools as a teen, either, and I couldn’t find a shop class for adults. So I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. I learned a ton! Our general contractor was an awesome guy who also taught at a program that teaches women trade skills and sets them up with apprenticeships. He held…
