Jack had to die. It was the only romantic ending possible.

Congrats on joining us here at what I like to call, the punchline
In the header image of JR playing baseball, I’m assuming that hit a line drive to right field and ran to 3rd.
I don’t know why Lebron and/or the Lakers felt the need to put this out there, I’m quite sure JR already knew the score.
Yes, they still have to pay him, and yes it counts against the cap In Smith’s case only $4.4 million of the total was guaranteed, and the Cavs stretched it over three years, so only $1.4M-ish counts against the cap this year.
Serious question, not trolling. Deadspin has been very active in promoting player safety in a variety of sports. How do you square that with covering a blood sport like this? To me, even watching the NFL can be problematic because of the risk of injury, especially head injury, and my enjoyment of big hits in football…
She makes it look easy. I would have somehow kicked myself in the ass and the face simultaneously. Who knows where the ball would have ended up.
You didn’t do any research. And any reasonable person would look at the whole situation and point some very reasonable figures at the shitty parents. How many times was this shitbag bailed out by his dad and given money for high priced lawyers instead of paying the price for his actions? He got away with being a…
Fun Fact: All three of the Remy children are convicted felons.
This is important. It was (is?) widely believed that Jerry Remy used his money and influence in the area to repeatedly get his son out of trouble despite his obvious violent and unstable streak. I obviously have no firsthand knowledge of how true that is, but if it is, Remy writing “No one was looking to get him out…
Exactly right. Jared was a violent man who got away with many things because of who his dad was. Maybe if his dad had gotten him help to go along with lawyer and bail money Jerry wouldn’t have gotten such a “rough” time of it in the media. They were exceptionally shitty parents, who raised shitty kids... one of whom…
If these walls could talk; you’d probably hate their accent.
Our immigration system is a mess and currently obscenely cruel, but I’ve been all over the world and America is one of the only places where you can come and(with work) be just another citizen. Outside of the minority of racists no one is going to question that you’re American, even if you’re accent is different.
In fact, many writers at this blog and associated blogs did advocate for not voting in the last election because it “didn’t matter” so yeah, I’d take all of this with a grain of salt.
Thank you, Cogent for a well written “set her straight” comment.
Who got their independence?
Not just that, but the holiday, despite what a bunch of chodes have turned it into, is commemorating the anniversary of that declaration of independence and *not* some imagined subsequent American exceptionalism.
Doesn’t every country pretty much exist because they stole/conquered other people’s land? I’m not diminishing any atrocities that this country committed to indigenous people, but we aren’t unique in our history.
“What has America done for the benefit of mankind? Let our answer be this–America, with the same voice which spoke herself into existence as a nation, proclaimed to mankind the inextinguishable rights of human nature, and the only lawful foundations of government. America, in the assembly of nations, since her…
I just call it the Fourth of July, but if I called it Independence Day, I would consider that aspirational rather than already realized - just like so many of the ideals our nation was founded on. It can be a day to look forward as well as a day to eat hot dogs and watch fireworks.
