But the blank slate nature of the characters’ canon makes them quite flexible.

The fact that there are any fish in Loch Ness, means that there is no Nessie, as something of that size would’ve decimated...wait, why are we even talking about this?
Having sat through many a workshop, some threads run through them all. The strongest pieces get torn into the hardest. Someone will read way too much into something a writer threw in without a care. And the parts that are derived from things that actually happened are the parts people will disbelieve the most.
It was never a fair fight between fundamentalist Christianity and D&D. One was a dangerous system full of dark mysticism and threats to warp a young mind beyond repair, and the other was a tabletop RPG.

That's cool — I used to do that too, with some drawings too! Of course, it was more of a fan-fiction thing — and most of the stories ended with a lesbian orgy — but hey, I was a teen
